In celebration of Colon Cancer Awareness Month, the UP-PGH Division of Gastroenterology conducted a Colonoscopy Drive to promote early detection and prevention of colorectal cancer.

Today, we didn’t just screen patients—we prevented colon cancer by detecting and removing precancerous polyps before they could turn into something more serious.

Regular screening saves lives! If you're 50 years old or above, or at high risk for colorectal cancer, talk to your doctor about getting screened. Early detection is the key to prevention!

The UP-PGH Division of Gastroenterology, in partnership with the UP-PGH Division of Medical Oncology, conducted a lay forum on colon cancer in celebration of Colon Cancer Awareness Month. Held on March 6, 2025, at the UP-PGH Cancer Institute, the event aimed to educate and engage the public on prevention, early detection, and treatment of this highly preventable yet deadly disease.

Let’s break the stigma, spread awareness, and encourage screening for early detection—because prevention saves lives!
