Every year on July 28, the world observes World Hepatitis Day to promote prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of viral hepatitis. Dr. Baruch Blumberg, who identified the hepatitis B virus and created the first vaccination to prevent it, was born on this day. Hepatitis still affects millions of people globally, causing serious health problems and even death, even though it is preventable and treatable. To eradicate hepatitis as a public health concern, people, groups, and communities unite on this day to advance more knowledge, lessen stigma, and support easily available medical care.

FEAST DAY WITH A CAUSE

In honor of the Feast Day of St. Camillus de Lellis, the patron saint of the sick, healthcare workers, and hospitals, we came together not only to celebrate his life of compassion and service, but to live out his legacy through meaningful action.

As part of our celebration, we held our quarterly bloodletting drive, offering the gift of life to those who rely on blood donations for survival. In addition, a free grip test held at the Our Lady of Lapaz Parish and made available to the community, promoting health awareness and preventive care, especially among our elderly and physically challenged brothers and sisters.

The feast day was marked by a Solemn Mass, where we reflected on the unwavering faith and love that St. Camillus showed to the sick and the poor. His selfless devotion continues to inspire us to extend that same care to those in need today.

FEAST DAY OF ST. CAMILLUS DE LELLIS MASS / JULY 14, 2025

St. Camillus de Lellis dedicated his life to serving the sick, the poor, and the dying with deep compassion and unwavering faith. As the founder of the Order of the Ministers of the Infirm, now known as the Camillians, he redefined the meaning of care by placing love, dignity, and spiritual healing at the center of his mission. Despite his own struggles and hardships, he chose a life of selflessness, often referring to the sick as “the suffering body of Christ.” His example reminds us that true service goes beyond duty, rather, it is known as an act of love. Today, St. Camillus remains a powerful inspiration for healthcare workers, volunteers, and all who dedicate themselves to the care and comfort of others.

As we celebrate the feast day of St. Camillus de Lellis, we pray for the continuous mission, to reach more people, and bring hope where it is needed most. Beyond the material supports, your belief in our cause encourages us to keep moving forward, even during the most challenging times.
