Baby Cody is a part of the loving and supportive community known as LITRO Babies Phils Inc - LIver TRansplant Operation, where volunteers and supporters work tirelessly to provide assistance to children and babies like him who are struggling with liver diseases. One of the ways in which they are raising funds and support is through an upcoming event called Raffle for a Cause.

Cody is our brave baby boy who is currently facing a life-threatening situation. He has been diagnosed with Biliary Atresia, a rare liver disease that is slowly deteriorating his health and putting his life at risk. The only way to save Cody and give him a chance at a normal and healthy life is through a Liver Transplant. To all parents esp mommas out there, trust your intincts. Listen to your intuition as it is a powerful tool that can guide us in the right direction, especially when it comes to the health and well-being of our children.
The next step, which is also the most difficult, is Acceptance. We may wish for things to be different, but ultimately, we must acknowledge that control is no longer within our grasp. The only choice we have is to fully embrace the situation, no matter how painful it is, because only then we can move forward to really help our child and take the necessary actions. Hello everyone! My name is Cody, but my family calls me 'Strong Boy Cody' because they want me to stay strong, keep fighting, and ultimately win against this illness that I have.

I was diagnosed with a rare and life-threatening liver and bile duct disease called Biliary Atresia. At 5 months old, I am immunocompromised, still jaundiced (having yellowish skin and eyes), and I have a swollen stomach. Additionally, I often fail to thrive healthily because my body is not receiving all the nutrients it needs from the food I eat and the supplements I take.

Biliary Atresia damages the liver and is fatal if left untreated. When I was 10 weeks old, I underwent my first surgery, known as the Kasai procedure. The surgery tries to avoid further damage to the liver by redirecting the bile flow away from the liver. While it is often not a permanent solution, because it does not undo or repair the damage, it can help us buy more time, so we can prepare for a more permanent solution: a liver transplant.

All of my family were hopeful that Kasai would improve my condition, even if only for a short time. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. It was heartbreaking for my loved ones to witness my tiny body undergo a painful surgery, followed by three long months of waiting in agony for the outcome, only to discover that Kasai was not functioning as well as it should be. For this reason, we have no other option but to proceed with me having the liver transplant as soon as possible.

Liver transplant is very expensive in the Philippines, so the plan is to go to India where the liver transplant procedure costs are lower and success rates are higher. Because of this, my dad now works for longer hours, but that can only support our basic needs, my constant medications, lab tests, and other medical expenses. My mom helps too, but she also needs to take extra care of me since I’m immunocompromised and I can get sick easily. I also have an older sister who just turned 4 years old.

Sadly, almost all our savings went to my Kasai surgery, and we're still not financially ready for my transplant. I'm afraid that time is not on our side; the longer we wait, the weaker my body becomes while my liver continues to sustain further damage. My mother’s willingness to donate part of her liver to me is not enough. We really need help.

The cost of the surgery alone is estimated at 1.8 million pesos, not including the airfare, accommodations for the months we will need to stay in India for the procedure. So we are humbly asking for your kind assistance in any way possible. Any amount, no matter how big or small, will be greatly appreciated and will go a long way in helping us.

I hope to grow up just like any other child. My mother said that when I am old enough to understand, she will share with me the story of how people came together to help me get my new liver—this testament to the power of faith and the goodness of humanity. Although I am not able to speak yet, when the time comes, I would like to say thank you to you all personally. Perhaps, I could also give you the brightest smile when I introduce myself to you: My name is Cody and this is me now, the baby boy you once helped survive. 🙏

I would be grateful if you could remember me in your everyday prayers. I need my body to be strong to win this battle. Please also keep my whole family in your prayers as well because they also need the strength to win this battle with me.
