Hey everyone! Get ready to be impressed and informed! The Bicol Medical Center's Infection Prevention and Control Unit (IPCU), in collaboration with the BMC EREID Center and Public Health Unit, has launched an awesome TikTok PPE Transition Challenge!

Why? Because protecting our amazing healthcare heroes is super important! This challenge is all about highlighting the crucial skill of properly donning personal protective equipment (PPE), ensuring our healthcare workers stay safe while they care for us.

But it's not just educational—it's entertaining too! Our talented healthcare workers are showcasing their skills and creativity, all while demonstrating the correct PPE donning sequence.

World Hand Hygiene Day 2025 at BMC! 🙌

⚠️ Did You Know?
Regardless of whether gloves are worn, hand hygiene — at the right times and in the right way—is still one of the most important measures to protect patients and health workers in healthcare (WHO). 🤚

🟢 In celebration of this year's World Hand Hygiene Day, the Bicol Medical Center Infection Prevention and Control Unit (IPCU) prepared a Hand Hygiene Advocacy Station located near the entrance of the Gabaldon Building (Building J) yesterday, May 5, 2025, where clients and healthcare employees may get to know more about optimal hand hygiene practices.

The BMC IPCU team also conducted health education and distributed IEC materials at the BMC Outpatient Department to raise more awareness on hand hygiene, especially on how correct hand hygiene practices help reduce hospital infections.

The Public Health Unit together with the Hospital Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit, Infection Prevention and Control Unit, and HIV-AIDS Core Team in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Nabua and Rural Health Unit of Nabua held a Health Awareness Campaign on Leptospirosis and Dengue last December 10, 2024, at the Sto. Domingo Covered Court in Nabua, Camarines Sur.

Various lectures were conducted on different relevant topics such as Leptospirosis and Acute Gastroenteritis, discussed by Dr. Cherry Pinky Budao; Dengue and HIV/AIDS, discussed by Dr. John Paul Taday, and; the BMC Patient Navigation and Referral System, discussed by Dr. Nathalie P. Lazaro.

Aside from the lectures, IEC materials were distributed to the participants in addition to free and voluntary HIV/AIDS Screening services.

Thank you to the Nabua LGU and RHU for this initiative!

This activity is in line with the continuous Health Education and Promotion of the BMC Public Health Unit aligned with the Department of Health – in support of the Bawat Buhay Mahalaga tagline that aims for better health outcomes, reducing health risks and advocating for healthy behaviors for every Filipino.

This entry is entitled "HAI Five" 🖐️ — performed by our dynamic staff from the Operating Room Complex where they HAI-lighted the importance of basic hand hygiene practices as the easiest way of preventing hospital-acquired infections.

Together, we work hand in hand in promoting infection prevention and control practices to ensure that every patient is safe in our hands. 🟢
