FibroScan is a specialized ultrasound machine that measures scarring and fatty change in your liver. Fatty change is when fat builds up in your liver cells. Fibroscan is a rapid, painless and non-invasive examination.

FibroScan will help your Doctor learn more about your liver health. It can be used alone or in conjunction with other tests (such as blood tests, imaging scans,) that also measure scarring (Fibrosis) or fatty change (Steatosis) in your liver.

Your Primary Doctor will discuss with you the results on your follow-up appointment.

WHAT IS BONE MINERAL DENSITOMETRY?
A Bone Mineral Densitometry (BMD) Test is used to measure bone mineral content. The measurement allows your doctor to assess whether there is decreased bone mass.

WHY MIGHT I NEED THE TEST?
Conventional X-Rays may only show weakened bones but usually at late stages when it may be too far advanced to treat. BMD on the other hand, can detect decreasing bone density and strength at much earlier stage when treatment is much advantageous.

WHO ARE THOSE AT RISK?
• Post-menopausal women
• Advanced age (65 - 70)
• Smokers and Alcoholics
• Prolonged use of steroids
• Certain diseases: Rheumatoid Arthritis, Liver and
Kidney Disorders, Hyperthyroidism,
Hyperparathyroidism, Type I Diabetes
