In celebration of the 79𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲, the 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐬 initiated a meaningful 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲, joined by the 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐒𝐚𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 together with the 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐬. This activity served as a beautiful reminder that service goes beyond helping people in times of need, as it also includes protecting the environment that sustains our communities.

With hearts dedicated to service and environmental stewardship, 79 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐬 were planted, representing 79 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 of the Philippine Red Cross. Each mangrove planted symbolizes hope, resilience, and the shared responsibility of the youth to care for nature and create a lasting impact for future generations.

This activity would not have been possible without the support of our 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬, 𝐂𝐒𝐑-𝐑𝐂𝐘, 𝐑𝐂𝐘 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐬, and the active participation of the following 𝐑𝐂𝐘 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐬:

Your presence, guidance, and commitment made this initiative more meaningful and inspiring. Together, you showed that when young volunteers unite for a common purpose, even a simple act of planting can become a lasting symbol of service, care, and hope.

Through this purposeful activity, the GenSar Red Cross Youth continues to live out the spirit of volunteerism, compassion, and service to humanity. Together, we remain rooted in our mission and committed to growing a greener, safer, and more hopeful future for all.

Philippine Red Cross Celebrates 79 Years of Dedicated Humanitarian Service

Today, April 15, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) marks its 79th anniversary, honoring nearly eight decades of unwavering commitment to humanitarian service and nation-building. With 102 chapters across the country, the occasion serves as both a celebration of its legacy and a renewed call to uphold its mission, strengthen unity, and recognize the enduring spirit of volunteerism that defines the organization.

For almost eight decades, the PRC has remained a constant presence during the nation’s most critical moments—responding when floods strike in the dead of night, when earthquakes devastate communities, when hospitals urgently need blood, and as families begin the difficult journey toward recovery and rebuilding.
What sets the PRC apart is not only the breadth of its operations but also the culture it has cultivated—one grounded in preparedness, discipline, and above all, compassion. Its nearly two million volunteers are more than responders; they are everyday Filipinos stepping forward to help others—neighbors supporting neighbors, strangers becoming lifelines, individuals choosing to serve a purpose greater than themselves.

Supporting these efforts are the organization’s donors and partners, whose continued trust and generosity enable the PRC to sustain and expand its humanitarian programs. Each contribution—whether time, resources, or expertise—forms part of a broader network of hope that reaches communities in need.

Beyond the Philippines, the PRC is part of a global humanitarian network, working alongside the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and other National Societies worldwide. This connection highlights its role not only as a national institution but also as a contributor to a global movement united by the principle of humanity.

Under the leadership of Richard Gordon and Gwendolyn Pang, the PRC has enhanced its capacity to respond swiftly and effectively. Through strategic investments in logistics, information technology, and training, it has evolved into a highly efficient humanitarian network capable of reaching even the most remote communities.
More than the sum of “Volunteers + Logistics + Information Technology,” the PRC stands on a foundation of trust built over time, credibility earned through action, and compassion sustained across generations.

As it marks its 79th year, the PRC’s role remains more vital than ever—not only as an emergency responder but as a steadfast presence that reassures Filipinos that, in times of need, they are never alone.

🔥 DON’T LET THE HEAT GET TO YOU: RECOGNIZE HEAT-RELATED EMERGENCIES 🔥

Extreme heat isn’t just uncomfortable—it can be dangerous. Prolonged exposure can overwhelm the body’s cooling system, leading to heat exhaustion or even heat stroke. Knowing who’s most vulnerable and how to respond can save lives.

Who’s at higher risk?
•Elderly – Their bodies adjust to temperature changes more slowly.
•Children – They heat up faster than adults.
•Pregnant & Nursing Mothers – Staying hydrated is vital for both mother and baby.
•Outdoor Workers – Frequent breaks and shaded rest are essential.
•People with Pre-existing Conditions – Chronic illnesses can make coping with heat more difficult.

Take care of yourself and others—drink plenty of water, stay in the shade, and check on your neighbors!

=================================

The Philippine Red Cross - General Santos City-Sarangani Province Chapter would like to formally inform the public and all partner institutions regarding the implementation of Department of Health (DOH) Administrative Order No. 2026-0003, which prescribes the updated maximum allowable blood service fees for blood and blood products.

🩸 Effective Date: April 5, 2026
📄 References:
DOH Administrative Order No. 2026-0003
PRC Administrative Memo No. 6, Series of 2026

These adjustments cover the processing, testing, storage, and professional services necessary to ensure the safety and quality of blood and blood products for patients in need.

📌Why the change?
After a nationwide survey of 166 Blood Service Facilities (BSFs), it was determined that previous fee structures (set in 2015) no longer covered the rising costs of:
📍Essential testing and safety screenings
📍Storage and logistics
📍24/7 operational requirements

💡 All concerned are hereby advised to strictly comply with the approved rates. No additional fees shall be collected beyond what is authorized. We also encourage all partner institutions to disseminate this information to their respective departments to promote standardized pricing, transparency, and equitable access to safe blood services.

This update ensures that our blood facilities remain sustainable while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards for all patients.

🩸 BLOOD SAMARITAN PROGRAM – GENERAL SANTOS CITY & SARANGANI PROVINCE ❤️

The Philippine Red Cross – GenSar Chapter continues to extend support to patients in need through our Blood Samaritan Program.

📍 For residents of General Santos City:
•You may seek assistance through AMPING (LGP Cares)
•Or you can secure a referral/guarantee letter from participating barangays (8 out of 26 barangays).

📍 For residents of Sarangani Province:
Assistance is also available for indigent patients through the following programs:
• Blood Samaritan Program – Malungon SP
• Dugtong Buhay Program – LGU Sarangani Province or go directly to Glan, Kiamba, and Maasim.

You may also approach your local MSWDO, PHO, or Municipal Health Offices (MHO) for assistance and proper endorsement.

Together, let us continue to save lives by making blood services accessible to those who need it most. ❤️💪
