The DOH–Treatment and Rehabilitation Center Region 2 proudly concludes a meaningful, inspiring, and youth-centered celebration of the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control (DAPC) Week 2025, carrying the theme “Sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kalusugan ay Pinahahalagahan, Droga ay Inaayawan.”
This year’s observance brought together students, educators, partner agencies, and regional leaders, all united in strengthening drug abuse prevention initiatives and empowering the youth to make informed, healthy choices.
We were honored by the presence and support of PNP-PRO2 Regional Director PBGen. Antonio Marallag, PPA Regional Director Ma. Cristina Vibar. Also joining us were invaluable partners from DILG and PDEA, represented by Ms. April Manaoat (CV-CHD), Ms. Jasmin Aresta (DILG RO2), and IA III Marilyn Natividad (PDEA RO2) whose collaboration continues to elevate our advocacy efforts.
The program opened with the Chief Health Program Officer, Mr. Floro Orata's welcome remarks, followed by the message of our Chief of Hospital, who encouraged the youth to make wise decisions, choose positive influences, and value their health and future. She reminded students that staying away from drugs is an act of self-protection and a step toward achieving their dreams. Her message set the tone for a day filled with learning, reflection, and inspiration.
This was followed by an enlightening message from Ms. Manaoat, emphasizing the significance of this year’s DAPC theme and reminding everyone that prevention requires collective effort and community engagement.
One of the most impactful messages came from PBGen. Marallag who inspired the students by stressing the importance of good role models, listening to parents, and choosing friends who uplift rather than harm. He reminded them that while friendships are important, selecting the right peers is crucial in staying on the right path.
Supporting this encouragement, PPA RD Ma. Cristina Vibar echoed the importance of valuing one’s health and future. She reminded the youth that staying drug-free opens more doors to success and growth, reinforcing that every decision made today shapes the life they build tomorrow.
Ms. Aresta from the DILG RO2 , also shared a meaningful message on the importance of this celebration, underscoring that preventing drug abuse is a collective effort that strengthens communities and secures a brighter future for all.
After the messages, the students engaged in a series of informative and eye-opening lectures conducted by the TRC and our partner agencies:
-DOH-TRC, represented by Dr. Ian Christopher Cabalza, Medical Specialist III,discussed the science of addiction and how it progresses from experimental use to addiction.
-PDEA RO2, through IO II Rachelle Lagundi, highlighted the Ill Effects of Illegal Substances.
-PNP-PRO2, represented by PMaj. Babyrose Cajulao, emphasized the role of the youth and the community as a whole in fighting the problem against drugs and the importance of community vigilance in safeguarding the youth.
Following the lectures, the much-awaited contested activities commenced — showcasing the talents, creativity, and critical thinking of the participants. These competitions allowed the youth to express their advocacy through art, film, and academic excellence.
Congratulations to our outstanding winners!
