In support of the National Deworming Program, the City Health Office II, Ilagan City successfully conducted the Deworming Kick-Off Activity at San Pedro Integrated School on February 6, 2026.
The activity aims to protect school-aged children from intestinal parasitic infections that may affect their growth, nutrition, and academic performance. Through the administration of safe and effective deworming tablets, learners were given an added layer of protection to ensure they stay healthy, active, and ready to learn.

Health personnel, in coordination with school officials and teachers, facilitated the proper distribution of the medication while also providing a short health education session. Pupils were reminded about the importance of proper handwashing, wearing slippers, maintaining clean surroundings, and practicing good hygiene to prevent reinfection.
The successful kick-off highlights the strong collaboration between the health and education sectors in promoting the well-being of children in the community. With continued support from parents, teachers, and local leaders, the deworming program serves as a vital step toward building a healthier and brighter future for every learner.

Together, we move forward in safeguarding the health of our children โ€” because a healthy child is a better learner. ๐Ÿ’š

PuroKalusugan in the Barangays

The PuroKalusugan activity was successfully conducted in the barangays as part of the continuing efforts to bring essential health services closer to the community. This initiative aims to strengthen primary health care by ensuring that residents receive accessible, timely, and quality medical services within their own localities.

Led by Dr. Joan Paula M. Pagalilauan and Dr. Jan Reeya Claire Delos Santos, the activity provided medical consultations, health assessments, and basic health education to community members. Residents were given the opportunity to raise their health concerns, seek professional advice, and receive appropriate guidance on disease prevention and management.

PuroKalusugan not only addressed immediate medical needs but also promoted awareness on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, early detection of illnesses, and the importance of regular health check-ups. Through this outreach program, the City Health Office continues to strengthen its commitment to preventive care and community-based health services.

Indeed, bringing health services directly to the barangays ensures that no one is left behind in achieving better health and well-being for all.

In support of the Healthy Heart Month celebration, the City Government Unit of Ilagan City together with City Health Office II actively participated in promoting cardiovascular wellness under the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Program. This meaningful celebration highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle to prevent heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, and other chronic illnesses.

To mark the occasion, the staff energized the workplace by conducting a Zumba session within the office premises. The activity not only promoted physical fitness and camaraderie among employees but also served as a reminder that regular exercise is one of the simplest and most effective ways to keep the heart strong and healthy.

As part of its outreach efforts, the NCD Program also conducted a medical-dental mission at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP). Persons deprived of liberty were provided with essential health services, including medical consultations and dental care. In addition, a short but meaningful talk on Non-Communicable Diseases and mental health awareness was delivered, emphasizing prevention, early detection, healthy lifestyle choices, and the importance of emotional well-being.

Through these initiatives, the City Government Unit and City Health Office II reaffirm their commitment to promoting holistic healthโ€”not only within the workplace but also in the wider community. Healthy Heart Month serves as a reminder that a healthy heart leads to a healthier life for everyone. โค๏ธ

On this World AIDS Day, we remember the countless lives touched by HIVโ€”those we have lost, those who continue to fight, and those who live with courage every single day. HIV is not a death sentence; with early testing, proper treatment, and unwavering support, people with HIV can live long, healthy, and meaningful lives. But the battle is not just medicalโ€”it's also against stigma, silence, and discrimination. Today, we choose compassion. We choose understanding. We choose to stand with every person affected by HIV. Together, we carry hope forwardโ€”until no one is left behind.
