đ Artwork of the week
đ This object, exceptionally on loan as part of the « Naples in Paris. The Louvre invites the Museo di Capodimonte » exhibition, is undoubtedly one of the most impressive currently on display in the Salle de la Chapelle. Designed in 1785 by Filippo Tagliolini and measuring almost 1.62 m in height, its manufacture in Biscuit porcelain from the Real Fabbrica Ferdinandea took almost ten years.
âïž The subject represented is the Fall of the Giants. Tagliolini was inspired by the great painted compositions of Salvator Rosa and Guido Reni, but above all by the frescoes executed by Annibale Carracci in the Palazzo Farnese.
đź The ensemble was created to arouse astonishment. It was intended to accompany the creation of a dinner service decorated with scenes from the frescoes discovered in Campania. Come and admire it until January 8, 2024!
