DUHI History
In the year 1960, Dr. Victorio Diabo Uy returned to Iligan City after his Surgery training at the Cook County Hospital in Illinois, and opened a nine-bed lying-in clinic together with Dr. Leoresito Echiverri, along Roxas Avenue, Iligan City. After a few years, seeing that the clinic was doing well, and to accommodate the growing demand of the locality, he increased the bed capacity to twenty (20). Over the years, improvements were being made in the pharmacy, laboratory and other utilities, until he finally decided to convert it into a hospital that complied with the requirements of the Department of Health and the Philippine Hospital Association.
It was formally incorporated in October 1983, and during that time, infrastructural developments and facility upgrades were further made. Dr. Uy passed on that same year, and the directorship of the institution was then succeeded by his children. Up to this day, Dr. Uy Hospital, Incorporated is being managed purely by the family of the late Dr. Uy.
