A meltdown isn’t a tantrum.
It’s not about “bad behavior” or “acting out.”
It’s a response to overwhelming stress — when sounds, lights, emotions, or expectations become too much for the nervous system to handle.
During a meltdown, what helps most isn’t correction — it’s connection.
Stay calm. Offer space. Lower the noise. Be a safe place.
Every child’s meltdown is a message:
“I’m overwhelmed. Please help me feel safe again.”
