Gait retraining for Patellofemoral Pain (PFP) 🏃‍♀️
In runners with PFP we often see increased hip adduction during the stance phase of running. The 2 strategies mentioned in the graphic can be very effective to address this and help reduce load on the knee.
As a runner it’s hard to maintain a new style for long so it’s usually best to keep changes fairly subtle and make sure they feel comfortable to do. I usually suggest using a strategy for bursts of around 20 to 30 seconds at a time used regularly during a run.
