PARA SA KABATAAN

The Iloilo City Council for the Protection of Children, in collaboration with the Iloilo City Federation of BCPC Child Representatives, held a 'Finalization of BCPC Child Representative Organization Constitution and By-Laws Session' earlier this morning, which was attended by our active Ilonggo child leaders, ICCPC Partner Agencies and Stakeholders, and CSWDO District Heads and Staffs.

Mr. Christopher Montao of the Commission on Human Rights- Region VI was the main facilitator of the online session, which was held via Zoom, and aims to finalize the CBL draft that the child leaders crafted last September 2021 during the workshop that he also led.

The CBL will serve as the guidelines and foundation for the functions and operations of the BCPC Child Representative Organizations. We are eager to finalize it and put it into action as soon as possible.

"BATÓ, BATANG ILONGGO!"

Yesterday, the majority of BCPC Child Representatives in the city attended and participated in the Iloilo City Children's Congress 2021 which was held at The Venue, Smallville Complex, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.

Spearheaded by the Iloilo City Government, Iloilo City Social Welfare and Development Office, Iloilo City Council for the Protection of Children, and Iloilo City Federation of BCPC Child Representatives, this activity aimed to gather the Ilonggo child leaders to share and celebrate their accomplishments and exemplary contributions to the community through their various initiatives and engagements.

ICCPC Partners and Stakeholders per child's rights category delivered their respective messages to the child leaders and the rest of the children in the city of love. The most anticipated State of the Children Address by Mayor Jerry P. Treñas were also shown at the later part of the event.

Child leaders also had fun during the games and "pakulo" prepared by the event committee, led by Marie Parreñas, ICFBCPCCR Sr. Vice President.

It also was an emotional moment for some outgoing officers who have rendered their genuine service for over a year to the organization and the community as they delivered their gratitude speeches after every accomplishment video report presentation.

We would like to thank the ICCPC and the Iloilo City Government for giving us, children and child leaders, platforms and opportunities to develop our potentials to the fullest, hence this activity is all about. Also, to the CSWDO District Heads who made everything, especially communication, a lot easier for us. And, to the supportive Barangay Officials who champion the rights and welfare of children.

The term 2020-2021 has been a roller-coaster ride, made harder by the ongoing pandemic. But, the passion and determination of both the rights-holders and duty-bearers in Iloilo City defeat the adversities and challenges that there may be. We are hopeful that 2022 will bring a lot more to the organization and to the Ilonggo children.

𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗟𝗢𝗗𝗜 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗜𝗦 ANGEL!

Angel Jed Zaragoza Latorre is a 16-year-old consistent honor student, athlete, young beauty queen, and community youth leader from Brgy. Bo. Obrero, Lapuz. As someone who wants to extend her hands to others, Angel is active in community outreach programs and has the advocacy of helping jobless and out-of-school youth through mentoring and conducting livelihood pieces of training with the help of the Technical Institute of Iloilo City- Bo. Obrero Center trainers.

"To share my story to my fellow youth and children, I have been a consistent honor student since my 1st grade up until now. I completed my Junior High School with the Red Phoenix Award from Hua Siong College of Iloilo. Aside from academics, I am also active in my extra co-curricular. Top 10 during the Extemporaneous Speech of ILOPRISAA 2019; PRISSAP Ten Outstanding Students of Region 6 Awardee; Silver and Bronze medalist- Badminton during the Iloilo PRISAA 2016 and 2015; 2nd place during the A2 Valiant Summer Badminton Clinic Tournament 2016- Badminton Singles are among of many others. For my pageantry and modeling experiences, Miss PRISSAAP 2018; Miss HSCI Intramurals 20187; HSCI Lakambini ng Wikang Pambansa 2017; Bo. Obrero Fiesta Queen 2016; St. Vincent Ferrer Fiesta Queen 2013; and Supermodel Teen Philippines 2021 ( to represent the Philippines in C Plan Jr. Supermodel in China)," Angel happily shared.

She believes in the saying of Maya Angelou, "Do the best you can until you know better. Then, when you know better, you do better."

𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗟𝗢𝗗𝗜 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗜𝗦 Ayumi!

Ayumi Cassandra Zerrudo is a 16 year old student leader and a proud product of Ramon Avanceña National High School from Calumpang, Molo, Iloilo City. She has a great love for fashion and does really influence others to be confident in their unique apperances and capabilities.

"I just want to share with you all my achievements so that I can inspire others for I won as Third Place in 2019 Division Scilympics, Third Place in SEAFDEC Aquaweek Stage Play, 2nd Place Tik "Talk" Vlog Challenge and I also joined several school, division and community contests but for me, I think my biggest achievement is not written in any certifications or has given recognitions. My biggest achievement is that I have been resilient through tough times and challenging situations; and of course excercising leadership, authority and influence. Lastly, resilience demonstrated under pressure is perhaps the darker side of achievement, but is in many ways it is just as important as the more obvious markers of success," Ayumi proudly shared.

Her motto in life,"ad astra per aspera"- "through difficulties, to the stars.”

Kim Lorenz P. Genite a 15-year-old academic awardee, skillful guy, and active student leader from Brgy.Baldoza, Lapaz, and the pride of his current school, Lapaz National High School. He is a very humble and also a friendly child to everyone that comes in his way. He surely has been a good example to others.

Samantha Kaye Dulalia is a 16-year-old active youth leader and a pageant-loving lady from Brgy. Calaparan, Arevalo. She is currently studying at Colegio del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus, also a consistent honor student.

"I always give my time to be involved in different organizations. In my former school Melchor L.Nava National High School, I was awarded the Service Award and Conduct Award of SSG Grade 8 Representative in the year 2019. I am the former Grade 9 Council President S.Y 2019-2020, and SSG Vice President for S.Y 2020-2021. I was elected as Vice President of Calaparan Empowered Children, P.I.O of Arevalo District Federation of BCPC Child Representative, and I am currently the Board Member (Arevalo) of Iloilo City Federation of BCPC Child Representative. Joining pageants is my way of exposing myself and gaining more confidence. Miss Pahampang 2019 of MLNNHS, Lakan at Lakambini ng Kalikasan 2019 2nd Runner Up (Inter-school competition), and Miss MLNNHS Foundation 2018 4th Runner Up are some of the titles I've won." Kaye proudly shared.

Samantha Kaye believes in a motto that states, "Continue chasing your dreams. We live here with a purpose, and that is to discover ourselves and make our differences to inspire others. Aim high!"

Ellah Shane Caringal is a 17-year-old student leader and child's rights advocate from Brgy. Concepcion Duran St., Iloilo City, currently schools at Fort San Pedro National High School, she is a consistent honor student and an active youth leader.

"I am at your service for 6 years and counting on. I have been an SSG representative for 4years, FSPNHS SSG SECRETARY 2019-2020, FSPNHS SSG PRESIDENT 2021-2022, and newly elected DIVISION FEDERATED SSG PRESIDENT. Aside from that, I also join inter-school competitions. As a matter of fact, I bagged the 5th place during the 13th Tax Campaign Quiz, won 3rd Place twice during the Tagis-Talino Competition 2018 and 2019, and one of the Finalists during the Search for the 10 Outstanding Students of Iloilo," Ellah shared to us.
