Ngunit para sa maraming manggagawang may HIV, iyon mismo ang nangyayari.

Ang diskriminasyon sa trabaho batay sa HIV status ay nangyayari pa rin — sa pamamagitan ng sapilitang pagbubunyag, hindi pantay na pagtrato, at pagkawala ng oportunidad.

Dapat malaman ng bawat manggagawa: sa ilalim ng Republic Act 11166 o ang Philippine HIV and AIDS Policy Act, ilegal ang tanggalin sa trabaho, tanggihan, o pilitin kang magbunyag ng iyong HIV status. Protektado ka ng batas. At nararapat kang magtrabaho nang may dignidad — anuman ang iyong katayuan sa kalusugan.

𝘖𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘸𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘶𝘱 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬.

Today, while many enjoy the holiday, thousands of Filipinos remain on duty—serving meals, answering calls, driving passengers home, assisting patients, guarding establishments, cleaning streets, and showing up despite exhaustion because responsibilities do not pause for celebrations.

Labor is often seen only in numbers, salaries, or job titles. But behind every shift is a person trying to survive, support a family, chase stability, or simply make it through another day.

At Team Dugong Bughaw, we recognize that health and dignity are also workers’ rights. Conversations about HIV awareness, FREE testing, PrEP access, and ending stigma are part of creating safer and more compassionate communities for everyone including the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes.

Because no worker should have to choose between earning a living and accessing healthcare without fear or discrimination.

This Labor Day, we honor not just productivity, but humanity.
To every Filipino worker carrying invisible battles while continuing to show up—we see you.

This National Women's Month, we celebrate women living with HIV. They may not dominate the statistics but they exist, and that is enough to matter. They are leaders, mothers, daughters, sisters, partners, providers — navigating strength in systems that don’t always protect them.

Among them are women who have bravely stepped forward not only to share their stories, but to educate communities, break stigma, and create safer spaces for others.

Because when women lead, communities rise.
