The Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery of Western Visayas Medical Center proudly announces a major milestoneβ€”the successful completion of its FIRST ENDOSCOPIC excision of a Juvenile Nasoangiofibroma in a 13-year-old male, a first in Western Visayas! πŸŽ‰

This landmark procedure was made possible through the expertise and collaboration of our dedicated team, led by Dr. Ria Sophia Perales, Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery Fellow, together with her mentors from the Philippine Academy of Rhinology and Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery training at East Avenue Medical Center: Dr. NiΓ±o Bernardo Timbungco and Dr. Sherilyn Ng Tsai Timbungco.

Assisting in the procedure were our training residents:

Dr. Kayla Gayle Sillo, Dr. Al Ensomo, and Dr. Nicole Dominique Vargas.

WVMC Finance Service Experts Highlight Zero Balance Billing Program During DOH Annual Cascade

Mr. Loyd Virgula, CPA, and Dr. Carl Andre Diesca of the WVMC Finance Service served as resource persons during the Annual Cascade of Department of Health (DOH) Priority Programs held for National Government Agencies and other key stakeholders.

During the activity, Mr. Virgula and Dr. Diesca provided comprehensive insights on the implementation of the Zero Balance Billing (ZBB) Program, a flagship initiative of the DOH aimed at ensuring that indigent and financially vulnerable patients are not charged for services in government hospitals.

The discussion emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration among government agencies and stakeholders to effectively implement the program and expand access to quality healthcare services. Participants were oriented on financial processes, policy guidelines, and best practices to support the sustainability of the ZBB Program.

The Annual Cascade of DOH Priority Programs serves as a platform to align efforts, enhance understanding, and reinforce the commitment of partner agencies toward achieving universal health care for all Filipinos.

This remarkable contribution marks a significant milestone in advancing quality eye care services. We are also deeply thankful for the donated IOL lenses, which will greatly benefit the patients of WVMC.
