A Healthier Future for the Children of Pasil: MOA Signing for the "Medical Home Initiative"
Today marks a historic milestone for health and wellness in New Lucena as the Barangay Pasil Gymnasium hosted the official Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing for the Pediatric Residency Training Community Program Consortium. This landmark "Medical Home Initiative" formally unites the local government of Barangay Pasil, led by Punong Barangay Hon. Elizer S. Divinagracia, Jr., with the esteemed pediatric departments and residents of Iloilo Doctors' Hospital (IDH) and Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC). Representing the medical community were IDH’s Dr. Mary Jane V. Rodriguez, Dr. Ma. Perpetua Socorro S. Barrera, and Dr. Jovanne L. Sombilla, alongside WVMC’s Dr. Teresa C. Martirez-Hallegado, Dr. Jade C. Akhunzadah, Dr. Mary Grace Encarnacion-Asis, and Dr. Mae Anne Rizalyn Allam.
The program was honored by the presence and support of Cong. Dr. Kathryn Joyce Fermin-Gorriceta and former Cong. Michael Gorriceta, whose participation underscored the importance of this initiative. Designed to transform local healthcare, the "medical home" model views the family as the heart of a healthy society. Beyond the formal agreement, this consortium is a dedicated commitment to providing primary health education, conducting community service projects, and implementing strategies that promote the holistic development of our youth—socially, emotionally, mentally, and physically. The event also featured the ceremonial turnover of Barangay Health Center signage and donations, providing the community with essential resources to sustain this progress. By bridging the gap between major medical institutions and the grassroots level, this partnership ensures a brighter, healthier, and more supported future for the children of Brgy. Pasil.
