Today, we honor and remember the 169th birth anniversary of Graciano Lopez Jaena.

A brilliant journalist and revolutionary, Lopez Jaena rose to prominence through his powerful satirical work Fray Botod and his leadership as editor of La Solidaridad, the principal voice of the Filipino reform movement in Spain for six meaningful years.

By virtue of Republic Act No. 6155, this day was declared a public holiday in our beloved Iloilo City and the Province of Iloilo, in recognition of his birth and enduring legacy. As we commemorate his life, may we draw inspiration from his passion, intellect, and unwavering pursuit of freedomโ€”values that continue to guide us in our love for country and service to our people.
