The halls of USWAG San Isidro Elementary School transformed into a hub of health and service on October 4, 2025, as the Central Philippine University (CPU) College of Pharmacy Student Council (COPSC) and the Junior Philippine Pharmacists Association (JPPhA) โ CPU Chapter spearheaded a medical mission titled โWellness Guided by Knowledge.โ ๐ช๐ป
The initiative, held in collaboration with the CPU College of Medicine (COM), sought to bridge healthcare and education by offering both medical services and meaningful insights on the role of pharmacists in patient-centered care.
The program opened with an invocation, the singing of the national anthem, and a warm welcome from Brgy. San Isidroโs barangay captain, Ronela Juaneza. Following this, Pearle Joy T. Caro, RPh, Outreach Coordinator of the CPU College of Pharmacy, delivered the CESL message, underscoring CPUโs commitment to community service through health missions.
A highlight of the event was the keynote lecture delivered by Jacqueline S. Blancaflor, RPh, who spoke on โThink Health, Think Pharmacist: Wellness Guided by Knowledgeโ โ a talk inspired by the theme of the 2025 World Pharmacists Day. Her address emphasized the pharmacistโs pivotal role in medication safety and public health awareness.
After the awarding of certificates and orientation, the dayโs main objective unfolded. Residents of Brgy. San Isidro availed of free services including CBG testing, medical check-ups, and dispensing of medicines. Professionals and student-volunteers alike worked hand in hand to ensure that every participant not only received care but also understood the importance of responsible medication use and preventive health practices.
The event reflected CPUโs mission of uniting knowledge with service by addressing both immediate health concerns and long-term awareness. Residents left not only with medicines and check-ups but also with practical understanding that can guide their daily choices toward wellness. In this way, the mission bridged the gap between academic expertise and the everyday needs of the community.
Gratitude was extended to the CPU COM, Lenus Drug Corporation, EVT Pharmacy, Brgy. San Isidro, and the faculty and staff of USWAG San Isidro Elementary School for their invaluable support, which made the event possible and impactful.
Through Wellness Guided by Knowledge, CPUโs student leaders, faculty, and partners demonstrated that the Universityโs core values thrive when translated into service. Anchored in faith, the medical mission showed that education achieves its highest purpose when it uplifts lives and fosters resilience. ๐๐
