Beyond the Diagnosis: Our JIA Story

“𝙒𝙚 𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨, 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣—𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙚 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙂𝙤𝙙 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙬.”

Her little victories today:

• Curled up in bed while she sleeps
• Lifted her glass to drink
• Plugged in her own phone and tablet charger
• Took a shower on her own
• Dressed herself
• Climbed into the car on her own—no lifting needed

By grace, without ꜱᴛᴇʀᴏɪᴅꜱ ᴀɴᴅ ᴍᴇᴛʜᴏᴛʀᴇxᴀᴛᴇ, she can once again do the little things— the very things she was deprived of for a while.

We hold these moments with gratitude. 🤍🙏

After days of flu and joint pains that made even simple movements hard, we asked our daughter this morning how much pain she was feeling.

With grace, she said: level one (1). 🥰

Today, she took a shower on her own. She fixed her clothes by herself.

Little by little—grace upon grace—she’s lifting herself back up again.

We pray this season of relief continues for a long while. 🙏✨

𝐅𝐋𝐔 + 𝐉𝐈𝐀 = 𝐅𝐋𝐀𝐈𝐑

After 2 days of flu, our daughter had a Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis flare today.
When asked her pain level, she quietly said 4–5—moderate, but real. 😭

𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙛𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙠𝙞𝙙𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙅𝙄𝘼.

What looks like “just the flu” can mean joint pain, stiffness, and exhaustion for them.

Please remember: 𝙅𝙄𝘼 𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙪𝙣𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚.

Our children are fighting battles you don’t always see.

✔️ Early diagnosis and treatment are critical

Everyday, upon waking up, we ask our daughter to pray to Jesus for healing.

Then we ask her to rate her pain on a scale of 1 to 10.

This simple question helps us understand the invisible battles she faces each day—and reminds us to meet her pain with grace.

Days ago, her answer was either 8 or 9

Yesterday, her answer was five (5)

Today, her answer is … two (2) 🥰

Nothing beats the thoughtfulness of our daughter this Valentine’s Day. We’re so grateful for the love God shows us through her—thank you for always being there and lifting our spirits. 💖

P.S. Despite being in pain, nothing beats the smile you put on your sister’s face this Valentine’s morning when she received the bouquet. 💐❤️ love you big time🥰
