From Fr. Victor Apacible
WORD Today: 04/16/17
Acts 10:34, 37-43
Col 3:1-4; Mt 28:1-10 (alt. Gospel)

"Do not be afraid." The WORD speaks! HE IS ALIVE! He rose to life on the first day, today. We who have put to death our sins and vices, today too is the first day of our new life.We are now Christ's witnesses to the amazing rebirth He gives to those who eat and drink at the Eucharistic Table in total communion with His Gospel (Acts 10:41). Leaving worldly passions in the tomb, heaven now fills our thoughts (Col 3:2). Jesus told the women, "Go tell my brothers" the Good News. So let us go and tell our hurting brothers and sisters: Jesus is alive! He lives in ME - and I'm here for YOU! "This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad!" (Resp. Psalm)
HAPPY EASTER!

15/04/2017

From Fr. Victor Apacible

There is no WORD today. He lies silent in the tomb. On this day, our Savior "descended to the dead" (Apostles Creed) and "raised up all who have slept ever since the world began" (Catechism #635). Jesus went down to Sheol, where all who died before Him went. There He preached to them (1Pet 4:6) so that they too may repent their sins, believe in the Gospel and be saved. For it is not in "being good" our own way that we save ourselves. No, ONLY when we change our ways and follow Christ's Gospel can He save us (Jn 14:6). Let us review His Sermon on the Mount (Matthew chapters 5 to 7) and discover our errors. Then let us wait for the Lord's Resurrection at the Vigil Mass tonight and, together with Him, arise to a beautiful new life and new adventures of love.

WORD Today 04/14/17
Is 52:13--53:12
Heb 4:14-16; 5:7-9
Jn 18:1--19:42

Today is Good Friday. It is "Good" because we escape punishment. Jesus was brutally beaten and executed on the cross instead of us. He suffered for all the times we accepted dirty pieces of silver instead of the cross, when we denied His call to forgive, when we deserted His difficult teachings and followed the world's. Today's Mass starts at 3 PM, the hour Jesus died for us. Let us be with Him at His last hour. Let us watch Him love us to death. Let us hear Him pray, "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do." At the Kissing of the Cross, let us assure Him it's not the kiss of Judas, that from now on we will be faithful to Him. Lord Jesus, thank You for making my life Good.

WORD Today 04/13/17
Ex 12:1-8, 11-14
1Cor 11:23-26
Jn 13:1-15

A Sacrament is the visible packaging (or sign) of Grace, the invisible spiritual gift from God. God created man a physical being, so He uses physical signs to contain the help He sends us. In 1450 BC, He used the body & blood of a lamb as the visible sign that saved His people from Egypt. Then the invisible Word of God came as the physical Jesus so He could bleed and die as the Lamb of God and save us from Satan. At the Last Supper, Jesus created the Eucharist to make His saving work ever present and visible in all the earth. Jesus feeds us His Body & Blood to recreate us into sacraments of His love - forgiving, serving and washing each other's tired feet as we walk together with Him to heaven.

12/04/2017

From Fr. Victor Apacible

WORD Today 04/12/17
Is 50:4-9
Mt 26:14-25

Jesus told the disciples "Go into the city to a certain man and tell him... in your house I shall celebrate the Passover." At the Passover supper, His Last Supper, Jesus celebrated the First Mass transforming bread and wine into His Body and Blood. Tomorrow, Holy Thursday, we celebrate the Last Supper and we are that "certain man" to host it. Jesus in the Eucharist wants to come into us and transform us into Him. Let us clean up our house for the Lord's Supper, repent and confess the times we enjoyed His blessings but abandoned Him when His ways were not convenient. Lord Jesus, clean my heart of double-faced passions, so I may joyfully join You at the table - today, at my last supper, and at the eternal banquet.

Should you blindly follow those Holy Week traditions
By: Archbiship Socrates Villegas

Holy Week is about what Christ has done for humanity. Let the memory of God’s mercy sink in without any compulsion to do something.

Just relish His mercy and bask in the radiance of His love. During Holy Week, tell God “Thank you.” Holy Week is not what men and women do to make these days holy. It is not about what Catholics must do, nor is it about religious traditions and pious practices done to “feel good” after. Fasting is good, but without malasakit (concern) for others, it is nothing. Prayer is good, but without remembering others and laying aside personal comfort, it is just an ego trip. Helping the poor and giving alms are good, but if you do it for show or to get a “feel good” reward later, it is just a noisy bell. Can we go to the beach during Holy Week? If it will help you love like Jesus, yes, you can. But if it will distract you from the story of His love, please don’t. The highest law is not silence but love. Silence speaks only if that silence is loving. Do we need to visit churches during Holy Week? That is good practice, but you might want to visit seven patients in the charity ward of a hospital instead and bring them some food.

Choose to love. Do we need to scourge our backs until they bleed to show atonement for our sins? Instead of spilling your blood on the streets, why not walk into a Red Cross office and donate blood? Choose to share life. Share your blood. Do we need to walk barefoot till our soles get blisters as a form of penance for our sins? Why don’t you buy a pair of slippers and give it to a child who goes to school dragging his torn footwear? Do we need to sing the “Pasyong Mahal” as an act of devotion to the story of Christ’s sufferings and death? Why don’t you buy a Bible instead and read one chapter a day with your family for the rest of the year? Do you need to get the flowers from the Holy Week carrosas to bring home and adorn your family altar? Why don’t you bring flowers instead to a home for abandoned seniors and brighten the faces of lonely grandparents with the love you bring?Must the face look sour and gloomy during Holy Week? Love begins with a smile. Make someone happy this Holy Week. Make someone feel loved. With your smile, show that God is love.Holy Week traditions vary from country to country. Holy Week practices evolve with time. For 2,000 years now, only one tradition has remained—the Christian tradition of Love. It is really not just a tradition. The first Christians were known to be the most loving of all. Love is our identity. This week is holy because of love. Love alone can make us holy.

From Fr. Victor Apacible

WORD Today 04/10/17
Is 42:1-7
Jn 12:1-11

Holy Week is Jesus' final battle to free us from sin, the prison of self-centeredness.
But Satan the enemy fights back! He does not want us giving our total commitment to Jesus like Mary in the Gospel. She went all out and poured out her most treasured possession, a half-liter of perfume to wash Jesus' feet. No, Satan tempts us to reserve something for ourselves, like Judas who served as group treasurer but thought it was okay to keep a little "rightful" share.
This Holy Week, let us reject Satan's lie that since we are doing something for Jesus, it's okay to keep a little sin or vice.
In this last week of Jesus' life, let us go all out and pour out all our sins in confession and dine with Jesus in daily Eucharist.

Wishing you a joyous holiday season and a new year filled with peace and happiness! God Bless you all!

Happy Feast of All the Saints and saints especially because they actually have their own respective Feastdays but for all the other resident citizens of Heaven - saints- we honor November 1, Todos Los Santos.

Enjoy with all the Saints and saints😘😘😘

WORD Today: 11/01/16
Rev 7:2-4, 9-14; 1Jn 3:1-3; Mt 5:1-12
"Rejoice and be glad, your reward is great in heaven!". Today we celebrate the Fiesta of all fiestas, the SuperFiesta of all Saints in Heaven. They are "a great multitude which no one could count... standing before the Throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white with palm branches in their hands." (Rev 7:9)
Each Saint is a masterpiece of God, each a small image of His infinity and an imitation of His Son's sanctity. Together they show us a glimpse of the majesty of God and the glory that await those who hope in Him and "makes himself pure as He is pure." (1Jn 3:3)

All souls in heaven are Saints - those who are not are somewhere else. It is therefore our mission to be a Saint. The Church has identified some of them whose earthly lives are worthy to be imitated. Let us choose 1 or 2 to be our intercessor and companion on our journey.

Happy All Saints Day!
