MHO Initao reached 4th place with a percentage of 78.37%. Healthcare workers continued to vaccinate eligible population throughout the barangays that has huge projected population. They reached this feat with sheer determination and pure hardwork to immunize these individuals.

This is also a time to renew public trust in the value of all vaccines and continue to build long-term support and awareness for immunization, as vaccines have proven to be critical in containing or limiting outbreaks of infectious diseases.” underscored DOH Officer-in-Charge Dr. Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire.

It’s not too late to give your child the best vaccine they can get. “Anti Tipdas” has been effective throughout these years, through advanced technology and rigorous research. In fact your children received this vaccine during their 9th month and 1st year from birth.

MHO Initao healthcare workers went to GIDA parts of their municipality, and conducted a house to house immunization. As they traverse to these areas, DMO IV Marivic Delafuente, RN also extended her help and services together with a team at Sitio Tagpaco, Barangay Sinalac. And also, in just a day, Barangay Oguis reached 131% with its MR coverage. A great feat for everyone in this municipality!

1st week has been through and so far MHO Initao healthcare workers has pulled a 41.50% finish for this week. They visited young individuals from one house to another at Barangay Poblacion, and this is to extend their maximum efforts and services to the public.

“All children have a right to a bright and healthy future. We recognize the efforts of the DOH and partners to bring renewed energy to accelerate catch up and prevent future outbreaks. COVID-19 has shown us that collective and concerted action works. We must exercise that same vigor for children’s immunization to make sure that children in the Philippines do not get left behind,” said UNICEF Philippines Representative Oyunsaikhan Dendevnorov.

MHO Initao with its LGU and HRH staff conducted a fixed site vaccination and went house-to-house thereafter to ensure that no children will miss the vaccine. For this day, they roam around barangay Poblacion and its several puroks.

2nd day of MR-bOPV SIA at Initao, Misamis Oriental

“According to UNICEF, around 67 million children globally missed out entirely or partially on routine immunization between 2019 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This ranks the Philippines second (2nd) to the highest number of children with zero doses in East Asia and the Pacific Region, and fourth (4th) in the world. From January 1 to March 18, 2023, the DOH has already recorded 225 cases, a 369 percent increase from the same period last year.”

Another day, another jab at the same barangays that was covered during the first day. LGU-hired midwives and HRH staff went from house to house just to vaccinate all those eligible children. They were guided by BHWs who were assigned on that particular purok. At the end of the day, majority of the barangays reached more than 80% of the target.

LOOK. The Department of Health spearheaded by Asec. Frances Mae Cherryl K. Ontalan together with the Municipal Government of San Miguel, Bohol, and its partner agencies launched the "Chikiting Ligtas 2023: Join the Big Catch Up, Magpabakuna para sa Healthy Pilipinas!", a nationwide supplemental immunization campaign, to vaccinate children against measles, rubella, and polio on May 3, 2023.

The Department of Health makes vaccination easier by bringing it closer to the people through the commitment of different sectoral partners - our LGUs, the development agencies, and the civil society organizations - to protect Filipino children from vaccine-preventable diseases.
