Today, 173 years ago our parish was founded.

The Parish was erected by the Diocese on December 10, 1851, having St. Matthew the Apostle as the titular Patron and advocate, being looked after and visited by Barugo.

The Church was made up of wood and galvanized iron roof; 50 and half meters in length, 15 in width and 9 in height and in a bad and precarious condition.

A Cemetery was also established and protected by a fence.

The Parochial House was made up of wood board and has partitions and walls.

FIRST CLASS RELIC OF ST. MATTHEW
1st Patronal Visit 2024 | JUL 24 to SEPT 10

The Pilgrim Image & the First Class Relic of ST. MATTHEW in our Parish is set to visit all the sitios & barangays, schools & offices under our pastoral care. The Pilgrim Image will be visiting all the households of the faithful in our barangays it will also vist the schools & government offices in our town proper. At 6 o’clock in the evening on your respective schedules a Holy Mass will be offered at your sitio/barangay chapels.

This year’s patronal visitation is set to mark the FIRST PATRONAL VISIT OF THE RELIC OF ST. MATTHEW. After the mass will be the VENERATION of the RELIC of St. Matthew this will be the time for us to spiritually encounter the RELIC [an extracted particle from the Bones of St. Matthew, Apostle & Evangelist]. Let us offer our prayers to the Lord for a Synodal Church through the intercession of St. Matthew.

This is in preparation for the upcoming 173rd FIESTA CELEBRATION in honor of ST. MATTHEW, Apostle & Evangelist on September 11-21, 2024.
