Sulu Sanitarium & General Hospital’s 2025 World AIDS Day Commemoration Brings HIV Awareness and Solidarity to the Community

Sulu Sanitarium & General Hospital (SSGH) observed World AIDS Day in a meaningful and community-centered way on November 30 and December 1, 2025, with activities focused on raising HIV awareness, reducing stigma, and expressing solidarity with those affected.
On November 30, 2025, SSGH conducted an HIV awareness lecture for members of the LGBTQ+ Community and their representatives at the hospital’s Multipurpose Hall. The session provided essential information on HIV prevention, treatment and the most importance of early testing.
The formal World AIDS Day commemoration followed on December 1, 2025, highlighted by a motorcade of solidarity through town. Hospital staff and community advocates took part in the procession, led by HACT Physician Dr. Rofaida E. Aming. The initiative was carried out with the strong support of the hospital’s OIC-MCC, Dr. Abdul Wadoud H. Abubakar.

The celebration reflects the global purpose of World AIDS Day: to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, demonstrate support for people living with HIV, honor those who have lost their lives, and promote prevention, treatment, and care. SSGH expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants – staff, community members, and supporters- recognizing that the success of such initiatives depends on collective effort and a shared commitment to public health and compassion.

SSGH Staff of Nursing Service and Doctors attended NRPh+ Hybrid Provider Course and PALS Training
The team actively participated in the NRPh+ Hybrid Provider Course held on October 24–25 at Grand Astoria Hotel, and the Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Training conducted by the Zamboanga City Medical Center on November 27, 2025, at Zamboanga City, the team was
headed by Dra. N. Usman were it embraces NRPH+ training as part of their ongoing commitment to deliver the best possible care for newborns. With every new lesson learned, they strengthen their ability to protect, support, and nurture the next generation.”

SSGH staff participated in training for the transition from iHOMIS to iHOMIS Plus, which ensured better data management and improved patient care.

The training was facilitated by the CHD ROIX – ICT department, led by Paolo Jason Aydalla together with Fernan Mark Layan.

The SSGH extends its deepest appreciation to the iHOMIS Plus team for their dedication and hard work.

November 17–19 — SSGH proudly participated in the New Government Procurement Act (RA 12009) Orientation, which aims to guide agencies toward efficient, accountable, smart, transparent, and value-driven procurement processes.

The activity was actively attended by the SSGH Bids and Awards Committee, headed by Dr. Abdulwadoud H. Abubakar, OIC-MCC, who are committed to strengthening institutional compliance and promoting good governance.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Department of Health (DOH) – Batch 13 (Zamboanga Peninsula) for the opportunity to stay updated with the latest procurement reforms and for fostering a collaborative learning environment.

This learning engagement reinforces our continuous effort to enhance procurement excellence and deliver better public service.

Last November 11, 2025, the SSGH ISO Committee, spearheaded by the newly appointed ISO Facilitator Dr. Rofaida E. Aming, joined the ISO 9001:2015 QMS Awareness Online Training conducted by Macro Vision Consultancy, with its objective to strengthen our commitment to quality service, patient safety, and continuous quality improvement.

The BLS/ACLS Training was conducted by Trainer Apollo D. Aranas, RN of the FDM Training Center, which is a DOH-Accredited training center and an Authorized Training Center of the American Heart Association (AHA). This training is in line with the celebration of Sulu Sanitarium and General Hospital - Nursing Service on the Nurses’ Week 2025. The majority of the participants in the said training are on renewal of their BLS/ACLS while some are new. It was indeed remarkable training and all the participants successfully completed both didactic and skills benchmarking, which signifies that these trainees are more ready to save the lives of people by enabling prompt intervention during emergencies like cardiac arrest.
