95 mahihirap na Moro nabigyan ng salamin sa mata, ginamot ng libre

Abot sa 95 na mga mahihirap na residente ng Barangay Nasapian sa bagong tatag na Kapalawan municipality ng Bangsamoro region ang nabigyan nitong Lunes, February 3, 2025, ng mga reading glasses at anim sa kanila na may pterygium at cataract ang nakatakda ng sumailalim sa medical treatment sa isang pagamutan.

Ang mga 95 na mga pasyente sa Barangay Nasapian sa Kapalawan, isa sa walong bagong tatag na Bangsamoro municipalities sa Cotabato Province sa Region 12, ay magkatuwang na natulungan sa isang outreach mission nitong Lunes ng tanggapan ni physician-ophthalmologist Kadil Monera Sinolinding, Jr., isa sa 80 na kasapi ng Bangsamoro parliament, at ng humanitarian team ng Deseret Foundation sa Kabacan, Cotabato.

Si Minister Sinolinding ay kasalukuyang health minister ng Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Sa ulat, ng local government unit ng Kapalawan at ng barangay officials ng Nasapian ang ng iba pang mga barangay sa naturang bayan, mahigit 2,000 na na mga residente na sakop nila na may mga problema sa paningin ang nagamot ng libre ng medical outreach team ni Minister Sinolinding nitong nakalipas na walong na buwan. Cataracts remain the leading cause of preventable blindness and bilateral low vision among adults, yet many people lack awareness about this common condition and the effective treatments available. Despite being a treatable condition, many individuals delay seeking help due to misconceptions or a lack of information. This underscores the urgent need for increased awareness campaigns that educate communities on recognizing cataract symptoms and understanding that surgical intervention can restore vision effectively.

As we strive for ZERO BLINDNESS, the Deseret Ambulatory Referral Center (DeAR) is committed to assisting those in need of our services. We will continue our free eye screening program for those vulnerable populations to help them access basic medical and surgical interventions and to spread awareness about eye health issues.

UNITY IN HEALING

As we remain committed to our mission of restoring individuals' visual acuity to 20/20, we are expanding our services to cater to the needs of the broader community, particularly those requiring vision-related assistance.

This JOINT MEDICAL SURGICAL MISSION seeks to provide different services including FREE eye screening and FREE surgery. During the mission, a total of 102 individuals were screened, and 45 of them underwent cataract surgery and excision of pterygium.

This program would not be successful without the help of Wao District Hospital and the support of our beloved Minister of Health -BARMM, Dr. Kadil “Jojo” M. Sinolinding.

OPLAN MALINAW NA PANINGIN

The Deseret Ambulatory Referral Center team started the OPLAN MALINAW NA PANINGIN in the municipality of Carmen that seeks to provide free eye screening for Cataract, Pterygium, and other eye-related concerns.

In barangay Ugalingan, a total of 70 individuals availed the free services and 22 of them identified as candidates for eye surgery. Whereas in Barangay Macabenban, 81 individuals benefited from the free eye screening, and 26 of them will be scheduled for surgery.

The Deseret Ambulatory Referral Center has established a regular monthly schedule for conducting eye consultations and surgeries in the Municipality of Arakan. This ongoing initiative exemplifies the team’s persistent dedication to providing essential eye care services to the residents of Arakan, highlighting their strong sense of professional responsibility and commitment to community engagement. A total of 101 patients were consulted providing them with thorough assessments and guidance regarding their eye health. Among these patients, 15 underwent successful surgical procedures.

To all my Muslim brothers and sisters, my warmest and sincerest wishes of a joyous and peaceful celebration of the Eid ul-Fitr.

As holy month of Ramadan comes to an end, may our sacrifices and prayers during this month be accepted and rewarded by Allah (SWT). May all the values of sacrifice, perseverance, discipline and righteousness we learned be carried out in our hearts, now and then.

OPLAN MALINAW NA PANINGIN SA MAKILALA

A total of 11 patients underwent successful surgical procedures, comprising 8 cases of cataract surgery and 3 cases for excision of pterygium. These patients were screened from different barangays of Makilala, North Cotabato last 2023 facilitated by the collaborative efforts of the DeAR Center Optha team.

The patients expressed their genuine appreciation to their beloved mayor Hon. Armando M. Quibod who gave his full support and assistance to the 11 beneficiaries. Additionally, this would not be possible without the significant help of Sir Romnick Cabaron, a Municipal Counselor of Makilala whose efforts were indispensable throughout the entire process.

The DeAR Center, along with its staff, extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Municipality of Makilala for trusting our services. We deeply appreciate the opportunity to serve your community and remain committed to upholding the highest standards of excellence in our endeavors.
