ANO ANG PROSTATE-SPECIFIC ANTIGEN (PSA)?

Ito ay isang blood test at isang uri ng SCREENING test para sa prostate cancer. Isa itong uri ng protina na maaaring magmula sa cancerous o non-cancerous cells sa prostate gland. Pinakamarami nito sa semilya o semen.

Kapag mataas ang PSA level sa dugo, maaaring maging senyales ito ng prostate cancer. Subalit paglaki ng prostate gland (BPH) na maaaring dulot ng advancing age at impeksyon o pamamaga ng prostate (prostatitis) ay maaari ring makataas sa level ng PSA.
