Today’s clinic feature is
✨⭐️Golda✨⭐️

A nickname inspired by no other than Atty. Golda from Tiktok. At 1yr and 4mos, while they were at the mall, Golda’s parents discovered she can identify letters and can actually read words — way advance than most children.

Today, Golda showed off her skills and perfected all the word shown to her. What a feat! 👏🏼👩‍🏫

Issa and her kuya were recently admitted due to diarrhea. Culprit? Amoeba! But of course, everything is well now. Look what the little girl gave me - a cute arte arte lipstick. Thank you, Issa! 🥰💕

Tips on how to prevent infectious diarrhea:
1. Always wash hands with soap and water before eating, when handling food, and after going to the toilet.
2. Ensure all food is well prepared and is cooked thoroughly.
3. Protect from known causes of diarrhea by getting vaccines such as Hepatitis A and Rotavirus Vaccine.
4. Supply of antibodies by breastfeeding.
5. Seek early consultation when with signs of dehydration.

EAR PIERCING 👂💎

While there is no specific recommended age for ear piercing, experts recommend piercing at the age when children are mature enough to take care of their piercing. In many cultures, parents opt to have their children’s ears pierced at an early age. There are, however, many points to consider before piercing.

For baby Elri, we made sure that:
✅a trained professional did it
✅sterile instruments were used in piercing her ears
✅hypoallergenic earrings were used
✅more than 2 months have elapsed since her series of tetanus vaccines
✅since Elri had been rubbing her ears few weeks ago because of irritation from hair growth, we made sure that she is over that stage of rubbing
✅we didn’t pierce her ears before her scheduled swimming trips

For the aftercare, we recommended the following to Elri’s parents:
✅keep the earrings in for 4-6 weeks to allow healing
✅clean the area around the earrings once a day
✅keep hands clean when cleaning or touching the area
✅rotate the earrings with clean hands once a day to avoid adherence to skin
✅be careful not to push or pull earrings when brushing hair or having a bath
✅avoid swimming in pools and beaches while in the process of healing
✅watch out for any signs of infection such as pain or irritability, redness, swelling and pus

…and yes! Ear piercing is available at the clinic. ❤️🫶

‼️ Rabies cases are on the rise again. Do not fret! Rabies infection is 100% fatal but it is 100% preventable.

RABIES VIRUS
Incubation period: typically 2–3 months but may vary from one week to one year.

How is it spread?
1. When an infected animal bites or scratches other animals or a human; the virus being carried in the saliva or mucus spreading through a broken skin.

2. It is also spread through licking of open wounds or mucosa by an infected animal.

3. Eating of uncooked or undercooked carcass.

4. Direct exposure to a rabied human being.

How is it prevented?
1. Washing of wound extensively with soap and water for 15 minutes will dramatically decrease the risk for infection.

2. Immediately consult a doctor or any ABC or Animal Bite Center for proper categorization of the bite.

3. GET VACCINATED and COMPLETE the course of rabies vaccine; and administration of rabies immunoglobulin, if indicated.

4. Vaccinate your pets and do not let them mingle with stray animals.

‼️PLEASE TAKE NOTE:

-Do not induce bleeding. Huwag paduguin ang kagat.

-Do not kill the biting animal. Instead, keep alive and caged for observation.

Children 2 years old and older are recommended to be given with Rabies Vaccine as Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis. PrEP is given for 2 doses, 1 week apart. Please visit your doctor for proper consultations, categorization of bites and immunization.

Nom! Nom! Nom!
Is your child ready to eat? 🍽️🥣

It is recommended to start complementary feeding at 6 months old, although some introduce at 4 months. Every child is different. You can look for these signs of readiness before you start solid feeding:

✅Sits up alone or with support

✅ Can control their head and neck

✅ Opens their mouth when you offer food

✅ Swallows food rather than pushes it back out onto their chin

✅ Brings objects to their mouth

✅ Tries to grasp small objects, such as toys or food

✅ Transfers food from the front to the back of their tongue to swallow

Always check with your friendly pediatrician as he/she will walk you through the journey of feeding - when to start and how to start. Also, flu vaccine is recommended for children 6 months old and above.
