Let's work together and implement the 4S strategy Kontra Dengue.

4S strategy Kontra Dengue:

(1) Search and Destroy Mosquito Breeding Sites - Check your surroundings for stagnant waters with mosquito larvae or “kiti-kiti” especially in drums, tires, cans, lids, or even plants that can accumulate water and clean these areas as these are sites where mosquitoes breed and multiply.

(2) Self-protection - Wear long-sleeved clothing, and use insect sprays, insect repellants, mosquito nets, and window screens.

(3) Support fogging during outbreaks – Fogging is a temporary solution as it kills adult mosquitoes but is not able to kill larvae
(kiti-kiti). The larvae will still grow into adult mosquitoes after a few days rendering the fogging useless, thus cleaning the surroundings and destroying the breeding sites is still the best option.

(4) Seek early consultation - When symptoms like fever, headache, pain behind the eyes, joint pains, muscle pains, diarrhea, loss of appetite, vomiting, or rashes immediately seek to consult your nearest health center for proper medical treatment and advice.

These last 2 weeks, an average of 20 Dengue suspects per day were seen at the clinic.The UHS reminds all students to wear long sleeves and high collars .Remember, Dengue can be fatal.
