Beshie sa Kalusugan Bago Awra 2025!

“Beshie sa Kalusugan Bago Awra” is more than just a catchy phrase-it’s a yearly advocacy of the Municipal Health Services Office (MHSO) of La Trinidad under the Adolescent Health and Development Program. The theme reminds young people to put their physical and mental well-being first before posing for that selfie or groufie. At its core, the program aims to improve the health status of adolescents ages 10 to 19, empowering them to fully enjoy their right to health.

Adolescence is a time of curiosity, discovery, and adventure-but sometimes these choices can put health at risk. Challenges such as excessive alcohol use, unsafe s*x leading to teenage pregnancy or s*xually transmitted infections, and substance abuse can have life-changing consequences. To address these concerns, the MHSO launched “Beshie sa Kalusugan Bago Awra,” offering free health education and services tailored to the needs of the youth.

💡 Services Provided

The program rendered a wide range of services, grouped into:

Health Education (SBCC): Proper hygiene, nutrition, renal disease control, mental health awareness, teenage pregnancy prevention, and STI/HIV/AIDS awareness.

Medical Services: General check-ups, consultations, dental check-up with fluoride application, laboratory services (urinalysis, blood typing), vital signs monitoring, and eye screening.

Specialized Support: HIV screening and nutrition counseling.

🤝 Partnerships That Made It Possible

This initiative was made stronger through the support of the Department of Health (DOH), Community Health Teams, Barangay Local Government Units (BLGUs), postgraduate interns from various universities, nursing students from the University of the Cordilleras (UC), and interns from Benguet State University (BSU), among others.

The 2025 run of “Beshie sa Kalusugan Bago Awra” reached students from:

Bineng National High School
Alno National High School
La Trinidad National High School (Lubas)
Eastern National High School (Beckel)
Puguis National High School (Longlong)

🌱 Moving Forward

By starting with our youth, “Beshie sa Kalusugan Bago Awra” is planting seeds of healthier choices that can ripple out to families and the wider community. With every selfie-ready smile comes the reminder that true confidence starts with good health. Together, we move toward a where wellness becomes a way of life.
