ATTENTION, dear KCPians!!!

Please be advised that there is an increased risk of Leptospirosis
during the rainy season, especially in areas affected by flooding.

What is Leptospirosis?
Leptospirosis is a serious bacterial infection transmitted through
contact with water contaminated by the urine of infected animals,
particularly rats. Floodwaters are a common source.

Early Symptoms May Include:
• Fever
• Headache
• Muscle pain (especially in the legs and lower back)
• Red eyes
• Chills
• Vomiting and diarrhea
• In severe cases: yellowing of the skin and eyes, or difficulty
breathing

Prevention Tips:
✅ Avoid walking or wading in floodwaters
✅ Wear protective footwear (e.g., boots) if exposure is unavoidable
✅ Wash immediately with soap and clean water after contact with
floodwater
✅ Maintain a clean environment to discourage rodent infestation

Important Reminder:
If you experience any of the symptoms—especially after exposure to floodwaters—seek medical attention immediately. Early consultation is crucial to avoid serious complications.

The School Clinics are open and ready to assist all students and staff with concerns or symptoms related to leptospirosis.

Stay safe and take care of your health!

ALERT ALERT ALERT DEAR KCPians!!!

Please be informed that from January 1 to July 12, 2025, 1,122 dengue cases were recorded in Benguet, which is lower than the 2,658 cases during the same period last year.
For July 5–12, 30 new cases were recorded (Benguet Provincial Health Office).

To prevent dengue, we urge everyone to follow these safety measures:
1. Remove stagnant water: Empty and clean containers, plant pots, and anything that can collect rainwater.
2. Use protection: Wear long sleeves and pants, apply mosquito
repellent, and use window screens or mosquito nets.
3. Cover water storage: Always keep water containers properly sealed.
4. Change water in vases and pet bowls regularly: At least every 2
days.
5. Join cleanup activities: Keep your surroundings clean and dry.
6. Support fogging operations, especially in high-risk areas.
7. Watch for symptoms: Sudden fever, rashes, headache, or joint pain.

Go to the Medical Clinic if symptoms appear.

Let’s all do our part to keep KCP and our community safe from dengue.

Have you ever tried inhaling smoke straight from a vehicle’s exhaust pipe?

Because that’s basically what you’re doing every time you smoke. 🤮

🚬 Cigarette smoke contains carbon monoxide, which comprises most of the smoke produced by vehicles.

🚬 Carbon monoxide weakens the lungs, heart, and other organs because it makes it more challenging for the body to get oxygen.

🚭 By now, it should make total sense to give up this deadly habit!
