TDaP vaccine can prevent tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis.

Tetanus (T): known as "Lockjaw", causes painful spasms and stiffness of muscles, difficulty swallowing and breathing.
Diphtheria (D): can lead to difficulty breathing and swallowing, heart failure, and paralysis.
Pertussis (aP): known as “whooping cough”, can cause rapid, violent coughing leading to rib fractures, convulsions, and brain damage.

Who needs it?
✔ Children as young as 6 weeks old can get diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis immunizations (DTaP or DPT).
✔ Pregnant people should get a dose of TDaP during every pregnancy to help protect newborn.
✔ Adults who have never received TDaP should get a dose, with a booster dose every 10 years.
