Bringing Health Closer to the People: Purok Kalusugan by DOH in Laoag City

The Department of Health's Purok Kalusugan initiative was recently rolled out in Barangays 1 San Lorenzo, 56-B Bacail South and 37 Calayab of Laoag City through the efforts of the Laoag City National Health Workforce Support Services (NHWSS).

This community-based health strategy aims to make primary healthcare more accessible, especially in grassroots communities. Through Purok Kalusugan, residents benefited from free medical consultations, basic health screenings, health education, nutrition services and referrals—all brought directly to their barangay.

By partnering with local health workers and barangay officials, NHWSS successfully implemented the program to ensure that no one is left behind in the push for Kalusugan para sa lahat.

In response to the recent devastation caused by Typhoon Crising, the Provincial Department of Health Office has mobilized immediate support to affected communities. With the health and safety of residents as a top priority, essential supplies including doxycycline (to prevent leptospirosis), jerry cans for safe water storage, and hygiene kits have been distributed to the most impacted areas.

These efforts are part of a coordinated public health response to prevent the outbreak of waterborne and vector-borne diseases in the aftermath of the storm. The distributed supplies aim to ensure access to clean water, promote personal hygiene, and safeguard community health during this critical period of recovery.

We extend our gratitude to our health workers, City Mayor James Brian Alcid, SP Jaybee Baquiran Provincial Health Office, City Health Office and partners on the ground for their tireless efforts. Together, we remain committed to building resilience and restoring well-being in the affected communities.

Ang HFMD ay isang nakahahawang sakit na pinaka nakaaapekto sa mga batang edad 5 taon pababa. Nagdudulot ito ng pagpapantal sa kamay, paa, at singaw sa bibig.

Protektahan ang iyong anak laban sa sakit na ito!
✅ Ugaliing maghugas ng kamay
✅ Iwasang hawakan ang mata, ilong, at bibig
✅ Linisin at i-disinfect ang mga kagamitan
✅ Magpakonsulta agad sa pinakamalapit na health center

Protektahan ang sarili at ang pamilya laban sa HFMD!

🚫 No Lamok, No Dengue! 🚫

Ang kagat ng Aedes aegypti ay nagdadala ng Dengue na maaaring magdulot ng sintomas tulad ng trangkaso, ngunit maaaring lumala at magdulot ng mas malubhang sakit. Maaaring iwasan ito sa tamang paghahanda!

✅ Alamin ang banta ng Dengue at ang mga sintomas at warning signs nito
✅ Linisin ang kapaligiran at i-taob ang mga naipunan ng tubig
✅ Iwasan ang kagat ng lamok, lalo na kapag lalabas ng bahay o matutulog
✅ Kapag nilagnat ng higit 2 araw, magpakonsulta na agad sa pinakamalapit na health center

Ang malubhang Dengue ay nakamamatay. Ito ay dala ng lamok na Aedes aegypti 🦟 na nagpaparami sa mga naipong tubig at maruruming lugar.

Ugaliing maglinis ng paligid para walang pamugaran ang lamok! Kung walang lamok, walang dengue!
