Ako po c Ma Cruzelah m. Cruz... A colon Cancer patient.... Stage 3... Last year n kitaan akong my bukol s bituka undergo for operation.... Ang sbi ng doctor ila2bas ang colostomy bag at catheter kya ntkot akong mag p opera ... Aantyin ko n lng n ma2tay ako.... Pero ... Subalit... Dtapwat.... What You Should Know About Your Illness GERD is a chronic digestive disease in which stomach acid returns to the esophagus (the passage of food between the mouth and stomach). The return of acid causes irritation to the esophagus thus feeling pain. Acid reflux occurs when the sphincter muscles below the esophagus relax. As a result the acids in the stomach return to the esophagus. This is what causes heartburn.

When eating, the esophageal sphincter muscle and opens to pass food from the esophagus to the stomach and it also closes quickly so that food does not return. What happens to people with GERD is abnormal relaxation or opening of this sphincter so the acid returns to the esophagus. The constant return of acid to the esophagus can cause irritation and inflammation in the esophagus.

Eventually, this can result in bleeding and narrowing of the esophagus. If GERD is not treated early, it can turn into esophageal ulcers. Esophageal ulcers will cause pain and difficulty swallowing due to lesions in the esophagus. It can also result in a precancerous condition called Barrett’s esophagus.
