What is scoliosis? 🤔

Scoliosis is a sideways curve of the spine that is commonly diagnosed during the growth years. Early screening and early intervention helps! 💚

If you notice any postural asymmetries (i.e., uneven shoulders, “bump” on the back, uneven ribs, one hip higher, etc.), don’t wait.

Have your spine checked early — early care leads to better outcomes. 💚

Straighten up your scoliosis care game! ✨
Knowing the right Do’s & Don’ts can make a big difference in keeping your spine strong and supported. From staying active to practicing good posture, small habits add up to big wins for your back.

Your spine deserves the best care. From therapy to bracing and everything in between, Scoliosis Basics is your go-to for expert scoliosis care. ✨ Book an appointment today!

DO’S to Remember:
1. Stay active and exercise regularly
Regular movement helps keep your muscles strong and flexible, which supports your spine and can reduce discomfort.

2. Maintain good posture
Sitting and standing with proper posture helps reduce strain on your spine and keeps your body better aligned throughout the day.

3. Use ergonomic chairs and support pillows
Supportive seating and pillows help maintain proper spinal alignment, especially when sitting for long periods.

4. Follow your Physical Therapist’s advice and stay consistent with therapy
Your physical therapist creates exercises specifically for your needs, so staying consistent with therapy helps improve strength, posture, and overall spinal health.

If you answered B.) Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation (RICE) to last Monday's question, YOU ARE CORRECT! 🥳 It’s a long-established first aid protocol used to manage acute soft tissue injuries like sprains, strains, and minor swelling.

At Scoliosis Basics, we do more than treat scoliosis, we help you move, feel, and live better every single day. 💜 From managing scoliosis to simply looking to improve mobility and reduce pain, our expert team is here to guide you every step of the way.Ready to take the next step? Schedule a consult today. ✨

Each part serves a specific purpose in reducing pain and limiting inflammation immediately after an injury:
🛑 Rest
Prevents further damage by stopping use of the injured area. Continuing activity can worsen tissue tears and swelling.
❄️ Ice
Cold constricts blood vessels (vasoconstriction), which helps reduce swelling, inflammation, and pain.
🩹 Compression
Using an elastic bandage or wrap helps limit swelling by preventing excess fluid buildup in the injured tissue.
⬆️ Elevation
Raising the injured area above heart level helps reduce swelling by encouraging fluid to drain away from the injury site.

Together, these steps help:
Minimize swelling
Reduce pain
Limit internal bleeding
Promote faster early recovery

The answer is 𝑭𝑨𝑳𝑺𝑬!
Did you get it right?

Scoliosis is a structural change in the spine, not something caused by habits, lifestyle, or physical activity. Early detection and proper monitoring are key to managing it effectively. Stop guessing and get yourself checked. 🤗🔎

Scoliosis is not caused by everyday external factors like carrying heavy backpacks, slouching, sleeping in the wrong position, or participating in sports. These activities may sometimes highlight an existing curve or cause temporary back discomfort, but they do not create scoliosis itself.

Scoliosis is often linked to genetics, meaning it can run in families. If a parent or sibling has scoliosis, there is a higher likelihood that another family member may develop it as well. In other cases, scoliosis may be associated with underlying conditions such as neuromuscular disorders (like cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy), congenital spinal differences present at birth, or certain connective tissue disorders.
