To address childhood malnutrition in Brgy. Basa Uno, Zapote, the Third Year Family and Community Medicine Residents launched and implemented their Community-Oriented Primary Care (COPC) project on Malnutrition, “Nagkakaisang Masa Para Sa Malusog Na Basa”, last July 2025, in line with the LPGH&STC Gender and Development (GAD) advocacy programs. 👩⚕️👨⚕️
Guided by COPC principles, the project promoted sustainable, multisectoral, and participatory strategies to improve children’s nutrition through health education on healthy eating, deworming, hygiene, waste management, and urban gardening. 🍎👏🚮🪱🍃
Activities were spread over three key events which included lecture series with pre- and post-tests, return demonstrations, and a culminating Cooking Fest where participants prepared affordable and nutritious dishes based on the “Go, Glow, Grow” framework. 💪
The initiative was well-received, strengthening community participation and affirming our commitment to preventive, inclusive, and sustainable community-driven health strategies.
