Our shampoo bars are not saponified!

Saponification is the process of making soap. While others may consider the use of saponification in making shampoo bars WRS does not.

We decided that soap should be soap and shampoo should be shampoo. While saponification makes the shampoo bars harder and last longer they also did not give the same feel and texture as non-saponified shampoo bars (at least we were not able to try any that did not make our hair stick together).

This led to the creation of several versions of our shampoo bars. Version 1 was much larger but also disintegrated faster. Version 2 (the current version) is more compact and smaller but lasts longer. We also lessened the smell for our more scent-sensitive clients.

White Room Soapworks soaps are cold process soaps.

This particular process preserves the qualities of the oils used in creating the soap. The soaps are cured for 30 days, which makes the bars harder and of higher quality.

As soap makers, this process lets us be creative in the design of the soap compared to hot process soaps.

Spotlighting our Coco Castile Bar Soap!

This soap is made with only one ingredient: coconut oil. It's a mild, bubbly soap that's free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, and other additives.

We formulated this soap with the idea of sticking to the simplest formula possible. No additives, no scents, no preservatives, just good old-fashioned soap made with locally sourced ingredients.

Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer and cleanser that's been used for centuries. It's also hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic, making it safe for people with sensitive skin. Reminiscing our story.

White Room Soapworks was founded in the Philippines in April 2019 by the Ramos family. The inspiration for the business came after the mother and father of the founders were diagnosed with cancer.

The family, in their time of grief, sought possible causes of cancer and found in academic research that some of the ingredients in commercial household products were carcinogens. They made a decision to replace all chemical-based household cleaning products with natural alternatives in their effort to create a safe healing space during their cancer journey.

Using a little white room 4 by 5 square meter room at the back of the house, the family developed a controlled and clean environment. They then started experimenting and developing different formulas until they produced soap that didn't react to sensitive skin caused by different cancer treatments. One of their most successful formulas is the Coco Castile bar soap and Coco Castile liquid soap which took 6 months (April to October 2019) of trial and error to reach its current form.
