The Albay Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ALECO) announces the approval of Board Resolution No. 145 s. 2025 entitled βWaiving of surcharges and requirements for long-time Disconnected Accountsβ and Board Resolution No. 151 s. 2025 entitled βProgram on Reconnection of Electric Service for long-time Disconnected Membersβ which is a major relief initiative aimed to facilitate the recovery of collectible accounts of ALECO while providing financial relief and service restoration opportunities to affected Member-Consumer Owners (MCOs).
Under this program, ALECO will waive late fees or surcharges for disconnected MCO accounts with outstanding obligations or arrears incurred from December 2022 onwards, as part of its initiative to encourage the settlement of unpaid accounts while promoting fairness and accountability among all MCOs.
In addition, former members who were disconnected for more than twelve (12) consecutive months must apply for a new electric service and meet the following requirements only: (1) Completed Application for Other Electric Service Connection form with an attached valid government-issued ID; (2) Payment of applicable fees including reconnection fee and the new bill deposit; and (3) Certified Final Electrical Inspection (CFEI) or Accomplished Affidavity of Undertaking with Waiver/Release.
The program will run until March 31, 2026 to provide affected former MCOs adequate time to comply with the requirements and enable ALECO to efficiently process and monitor reconnection applications.
Through this program, ALECO is expected to contribute significantly to improved collection efficiency, recovery of inactive accounts and enhanced service coverage within ALECOβs franchise area.
