The National Kidney Month, with this year's theme "Bato ay Alagaan, Buhay ay Ipaglaban!", aims to raise awareness about renal diseases and reduce the high mortality rate caused by kidney ailments, and to increase public awareness about kidney health.
In line with this, the Bicol Regional Hospital and Medical Center - Nephrology Section, in collaboration with the Public Health Unit, has organized several engaging activities to highlight the significance of kidney health and to provide support for the local community.
On June 20, 2025, BRHMC held a Lay Forum and Extension Services. The event was conducted at two key locations: the ground floor of the BRHMC Dialysis Center Building for BRHMC personnel, and the ground floor of the Patient Support Services Building for OPD patients and their watchers. Dr. Melissa Tita L. Antonio, along with guest speaker Dr. Raymond Martin Corpuz from the DOH Bicol CHD, led informative discussions about kidney health. Participants also had the opportunity to undergo free urinalysis and Random Blood Sugar (RBS) testing to check their kidney function and sugar levels. In the afternoon, Dr. Nadine R. Bayani shared further insights on kidney health with OPD patients and their companions.
To further promote kidney health, a "Hataw for a Healthy Kidney Dance Exercise" event took place on June 28, 2025, at the Embarcadero de Legazpi. This featured a variety of fitness exercises including a Tai Chi session led by BRHMC's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation team, and an energetic Hataw Dance led by the BRHMC Code White Dancers. The event was not only an opportunity for physical activity but also a celebration of healthy living. Games were also organized and the winners of the Biggest Loser Cycle 9 were announced by the BRHMC Family and Community Medicine.
In addition to these activities, health booths were set up by various BRHMC departments to provide additional health education and services, including:
1. Move more, Eat Right โ Nutrition and Dietetics Section and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services
2. Be Clean, Live Sustainably- OSH and Wellness clinic
3. Get Vaccinated- Natโl Immunization Program Coordinator

5. Care for yourself, care for others- Mental Health Program

The month-long celebration served as a reminder of the critical role our kidneys play. As National Kidney Month 2025 comes to a close, the BRHMC remains dedicated to spreading awareness, promoting, and encouraging the community to prioritize kidney health.
