Please understand that the primary purpose of posting the water quality monitoring results is to protect public health, especially in light of the acute gastroenteritis cases reported. As a public office, we have a responsibility to ensure that the community is informed and has access to safe drinking water.
We made sure to present the results factually and objectively, without singling out specific businesses. Our goal is not to harm businesses, but to promote public safety, encourage good practices, and maintain consumer trust.
Due to the urgent need to inform and protect the public, the public announcement was already published.
In line with this, we are currently routing advice and recommendations for corrective actions to the concerned Water Refilling Station (WRS) operators. This gives operators the opportunity to implement necessary improvements, including stricter monitoring of their production processes and reinforcing proper practices among their manpower.
We will also make it clear to the public that the water quality monitoring is part of our proactive public health measures, intended to remind WRS operators to exercise heightened caution in their operations.
Furthermore, we will continue monitoring, and once re-sampling has been conducted and compliance with the standards is confirmed, we will duly update and inform the public.
