December is ringing bells in my mind, not the joyful kind. A few days ago, I was triggered by loud men talking outside, possibly drinking the night away. My heartbeat was fast. My legs felt numb. I was fighting to stay in the present because my mind was drifting into an autopilot state, a somewhat dissociative state. It was a chilling reminder of one of the many things I had endured before I had gone estranged from my family. And I needed help to feel assured that I wasn't back at my old home. I needed to come back to my body. Thankfully, through the years, I learned how to manage my triggered episodes - grounding, decompressing, being patient, asking for support. Especially this December. I have to brace the holidays again, to make better memories than the ones that keep me up at night, to hold myself tighter, to be kinder to myself, even if I don't get the typical "Filipino Christmas family" tradition, even if I'm loving people at a distance. Because I need to rebuild the body my soul comes home to.

Facilitating a Healing Breathing Session under a Mango Tree 🌳😌

✅ "Very relaxing!"
✅ "Parang nawala yung mga isipin ko"
✅ "Nakatulog ako" 😅

Minsan, we don't need to hear a mental health talk to feel better but simply experience mental rest. When I am a resource speaker, I make sure to integrate deep breathing always! What's the use of more information if your mind is already full of stress, anxiety, and worries?

So huminga muna dahil may ginhawa sa paghinga.

Actually, I was blessed to have been accompanied by the crystal bowls of - what a powerful combo! This was during "Celebrating Women: Protecting the Earth" of Soroptimist International of Lipa on October 12, with and at 🍃
