HIV FREE starts with ME!
In a strong show of commitment to public health and inclusive community outreach, Medicus Diagnostic Center – Lipa Branch and Xaraya, an advocacy organization under Wagayway Equality, formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) ahead of their joint Free HIV Testing and Counseling event held on the same day.
The MOA signing marked the official start of a partnership focused on expanding access to HIV-related services, health education, and awareness campaigns in Batangas, particularly among the MSM (men who have s*x with men) community. The agreement highlights a shared mission: to empower individuals through early detection, reduce stigma, and promote holistic health and well-being.
Following the signing ceremony, the collaborative event provided free and confidential HIV testing, along with pre- and post-test counseling sessions. Educational materials and one-on-one discussions were also offered to participants to help build a better understanding of HIV prevention, treatment, and care.
Xaraya, known for its grassroots efforts in LGBTQIA+ advocacy, brought its motto—“Driven by purpose, powered by community”—to life through this initiative. By centering the needs of the MSM community, the partnership embodies inclusive healthcare and solidarity.
Organizers reported a strong turnout and expressed optimism for future projects under the partnership. The success of the June 14 event not only reflected growing community engagement but also underscored the importance of collaboration in addressing public health challenges.
This joint effort serves as a powerful reminder that health is a shared responsibility—and that progress begins with education, access, and unity.
