If you wake up with numbness, tingling, or that “pins and needles” feeling in your hand, it is easy to assume that your blood flow was cut off during sleep, but in many cases the real cause is not circulation, it is nerve compression, because the nerves that control sensation in your hand, especially the median nerve, travel all the way from your neck down through your arm and into your fingers, and along that pathway there are key نقاط where pressure can build up, especially at the wrist inside what is known as the carpal tunnel, and when your wrist stays in a bent or compressed position during sleep, it can place direct pressure on that nerve, which disrupts the signal being sent between your brain and your hand, and that is exactly what creates the numbness and tingling you feel, and the reason the sensation disappears so quickly when you shake your hand or change position is not because blood suddenly returns, but because you release the pressure on the nerve and restore the signal, and this is also why the same pattern can repeat night after night if the position does not change, so instead of ignoring it or assuming it is harmless, you need to understand that your body is giving you an early sign of nerve stress, and if that compression continues over time, it can become more persistent, so by adjusting your wrist position, reducing prolonged flexion, and improving how your arm is supported during sleep, you can reduce that pressure and allow the nerve to function normally again.
