The TDAP (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis) vaccine is especially important to be given during pregnancy at 28 to 36 weeks each pregnancy as recommended by the CDC.

The goal is to give babies some short-term protection against whooping cough in early life.

Whooping cough is a serious disease that can be deadly for babies. Since babies can’t get vaccinated until they are two months old, getting the Tdap vaccine during the 3rd trimester can avoid this gap in protection. By doing so, you pass antibodies to your baby before birth. These antibodies help protect your baby in the first few months of life.

Contact your OBGYN to get this vaccine during pregnancy.
