LBSCFI Welcomes New Agency Heads: A Success at SEARCA! 🤝

The Los Baños Science Community Foundation, Inc. (LBSCFI) is thrilled to announce the successful conduct of the LBSCFI New Heads of Agency Orientation Seminar over Luncheon Meeting last November 14, 2025!

Hosted graciously by SEARCA Director Dr. Mercedita Sombilla, the event served as a crucial platform to orient the newly appointed heads of our LBSCFI Member Agencies about the Foundation’s goals, objectives, and vital role in the science and development community.

Dr. Sombilla emphasized the importance of this orientation to reconnect and advance our shared vision for LBSCFI, highlighting the community's collective strength.

The orientation was expertly steered by LBSCFI President Prof. Jose V. Camacho Jr., who is also the Chancellor of UPLB, and honored by the presence of Los Baños Mayor Neil Andrew Nocon.

Chancellor Camacho underscored the message that active support from all members will achieve and put LBSCFI to greater heights. This call to action reinforced the spirit of partnership and commitment among the agency heads.

✨Highlights of the Luncheon:
Comprehensive Orientation: New agency heads were successfully acquainted with the LBSCFI framework, fostering a shared vision for collaborative efforts.

✨Local Government's Vision: Mayor Nocon shared and presented the comprehensive plans and vision for the Municipality of Los Baños, emphasizing its commitment to upholding the town’s status as a Special Science and Nature City under Presidential Proclamation No. 349.

✨Networking and Fellowship: The luncheon provided an excellent opportunity for the new leaders to connect with their peers in the Los Baños science community.

✨Special Guests: We were delighted that former NEDA Secretary Karl Chua and former BSP Monetary Board Member and UPLB CPAf Professor Dr. Bruce Tolentino dropped by to show their support and share their insights.

This successful orientation ensures a smooth transition and continuous collaboration as we collectively work towards advancing science and technology for regional and national development.
