September 17, 2025

On September 17, 2025, the Escolastica Romero District Hospital family gathered for the Quarterly Socialization. This simple gathering served as an opportunity for employees from different departments to come together, share a meal, and strengthen the bonds that unite us as one team.

The gathering was led by Dr. Sherwin Sarmiento, Ma’am Rocel Sibug, Dr. Raphael Lacson, and Ma’am Mary Rose Lozano, whose presence and support highlighted the importance of collaboration and teamwork within the hospital.

The event highlighted the value of connection and camaraderie beyond our daily routines. Through shared conversations and moments of fellowship, we were reminded that every member plays an important role in fostering a supportive and harmonious workplace.

“Road crashes claimed more than 13,000 Filipino lives in 2023, an average of 35 lives every single day.

As a trauma surgeon and emergency physician, I have dedicated significant time and effort to research and policy development, focusing on trauma scoring systems, epidemiology of road crash injuries, and impact of alcohol intoxication on road fatalities. These studies have reinforced an undeniable truth that road crashes are preventable.

We remain resolute in our goal of reducing road traffic deaths and serious injuries by 50% in 2028”

‼️DOH: PALAKASIN ANG PEER SUPPORT GROUPS KONTRA SUICIDE‼️

Inirerekomenda ng DOH ang pagsasapinal at patuloy na pagsuporta sa mga youth-led peer support group para matugunan ang lumalaking pangangailangan para sa mga programang may kinalaman sa mental health.

Kaugnay nito, inilunsad na sa 50 Provincial at City-Wide Health Systems (P/CWHS) ang paggamit ng DOH Peer Support Groups Playbook.

Kabilang sa playbook ang mga training para sa mga peer facilitators at mga educational materials para higit pang buksan sa kabataan ang usaping mental health.

Sa pamamagitan ng peer support groups, nagkakaroon ang kabataan ng ligtas na espasyo kung saan sila ay napapakinggan, nauunawaan, at nagiging bahagi ng isang inklusibo at pantay na komunidad (WHO, 2021).

Batay sa DOH National Assessment of the Mental Health Literacy of Filipinos (2024), 2 sa bawat 3 kabataang Pilipino ay handang humingi ng tulong—isang malinaw na palatandaan na bukas ang kabataan sa pag-uusap at pagtutulungan, lalo na para sa mga may pinagdadaanan.

Ang leukemia ay isang uri ng kanser sa dugo at bone marrow. Ito ay kabilang sa top 5 na sanhi ng pagkamatay dahil sa kanser sa mga Pilipino.

Ang paninigarilyo, history ng chemotherapy at family history ay nakakapagpataas ng tsansa na magkaroon ng Leukemia.

Kapag nakaranas ng mga sintomas na ito, magpakonsulta kaagad sa inyong healthcare worker para magabayan sa angkop na gamutan.

❗️DOH: PANATILIHIN ANG TAMANG TIMBANG PARA SA MALUSOG NA KATAWAN❗️

4/10 na Pilipino ay obese. Ang obesity ay isang kondisyon kung saan labis ang taba sa katawan, at maaaring umangat ang panganib sa iba’t ibang sakit tulad ng altapresyon, sakit sa puso, diabetes (Type 2), at stroke.

🥦🏃Piliin ang healthy ang gawin ang mga sumusunod:
✅ Kumain ng masustansya at iwasan ang matatamis, maalat, mamantika, at matataba (4Ms)
✅ Mag-ehersisyo araw-araw
✅ Magpasuri nang maaga upang matiyak na ang timbang, taas, at sukat ng baywang ay akma sa iyo
✅ Iwasang magpuyat
