"Blanket Play" - a kind of play where the kids can practice their role playing as they portray as a superhero making the blanket as their cape (Superman, Batman, Wonder woman, etc.) Making a den for them to play under the blanket, feel that they are in camping, and do activities inside of it like cutting, coloring, playing blocks, etc. Play guessing what is the object under the blanket, like ball, pillow, shoes, ball, etc. And lastly, using the blanket, kids can make it a picnic carpet as they can eat all along and make conversation of their own and laugh as well..

Benefits of Blanket Play:
💛Serve as a tool to keep a child in place.
❤️️Teaching a child self-control.
💙Teaching children to learn to recognize boundaries.
💚Testing obedience. Blanket time is great obedience training.
This will encourage muscle and back strength, which are both important in learning to sit up.
Being close to different colorful objects, shapes and diverse textures motivates children to learn and discover.

💛Tutorials are often designed as smaller groups or classes that are led by a TA or graduate student. Tutorials are often not optional because they give you an opportunity to delve deeper into concepts, and attendance may contribute to your participation mark!

Tutorials are important for your learning because you can:
✅️Ask your TA questions and get clarification
✅️Work through exercises, discussion topics and concepts that will enhance your understanding of the lecture material
✅️Solve problems in a team, develop your group skills, and get to know your peers better (which may come in handy when picking group members for group projects)
✅️Prepare for and/or review midterms and exams
✅️Clarify any concepts that you might not understand
✅️Practice presentations (public speaking)
✅️Learn to respectfully present counterarguments and cope with conflict/constructive criticism

💛Pediatric developmental therapy is a specialty that deals with the wide variety of diagnoses that may affect your child's overall development. Depending on the age, disability, and setting, the role of the pediatric developmental therapist differs greatly. Therapy ball are used for rehabilitation and fitness, and work by forcing the body to balance against the ball's instability, leading to greater muscle activation. This results in improved back and spine health, core stability, posture and muscle balance.
It can be a great tool to use at home to help increase your child's core strength, postural stability, and sensory processing. It improves the exercise as it increases the range of motion and requires your muscles to engage more than doing one on the floor.

Therapy 101: Info of the day 🥰

Sensory integration is the process by which we receive information through our senses, organize this information, and use it to participate in everyday activities. It focuses primarily on three basic senses–tactile, vestibular, and proprioceptive. Their interconnections start forming before birth and continue to develop as the person matures and interacts with his/her environment.

💪The Vestibular Sensory System is our sense of movement and balance is known as our Vestibular sense. It is responsible for controlling our muscles, and most of our reflexes. The vestibular system is stimulated by movement up or down, backward or forwards, and around or over.

💪Proprioception is the position and movement of the body. It can either be heavy muscle work activities or activities that apply deep pressure to the muscle and joints. Heavy work activities involve pushing, pulling, carrying heavy objects and weight-bearing, such as, carrying a pile of heavy books or doing a wheelbarrow walk.
