Sleep deprivation can have significant negative effects on mental health. When we don't get enough sleep, our brain is unable to carry out its restorative functions, which can lead to a range of negative effects such as:

➡️ Mood swings: Lack of sleep can cause irritability, impatience, and mood swings, which can further exacerbate underlying mental health issues.

➡️ Anxiety and depression: Studies have shown that sleep deprivation is associated with increased risk of anxiety and depression. Chronic sleep deprivation can cause changes in the brain's chemistry that can lead to emotional instability.

➡️ Poor decision-making and concentration: Sleep is essential for cognitive function. When we are sleep-deprived, we are more likely to make poor decisions, struggle with concentration, and have impaired judgment.

Overall, sleep is a critical component of mental health, and getting enough rest is essential for maintaining emotional balance and stability.

For most of our lives, we have been taught to prioritize others' needs over our own. Truly, even the most enlightened ones have difficulty with self-compassion.

Think back to a moment when a close friend came to you for guidance after a failure. What did you say to her or him? In what ways did you show your love? Now think about a similar situation in which you were struggling. Were you kind to yourself in the same way that you were to your friend?

Today, we encourage everyone to take a self-compassion break! Treat yourself to a good meal, interesting book or a nice quality time with your loved ones.

Happy Valentine’s Day! 💐

Coercive control is an example of abuse; it can be subtle, making it hard to spot and recognize as inappropriate and abusive.

People who experience it frequently feel lonely and belittled.
Dictating what clothes they can wear, asking them where they are and who they are with all the time, using threats to make them do things you don’t want, making them cut contact with their friends and family, and limiting a person’s access to money are types of coercive control.

This is not love. This is control. ❌
You can’t love someone and control them.
You must choose between the two.

If you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship, contact PNP Mabalacat City hotline 0948-552-4384/0998-598-5458.

Are you or someone you care about in an abusive relationship?

Anyone can experience domestic violence and abuse; it does not discriminate. Both same-sex and heterosexual couples can experience abuse. It affects people of various ages, racial and ethnic backgrounds, and socioeconomic status.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, contact PNP Mabalacat City hotline 0948-552-4384/0998-598-5458.
