After three and a half years, Yen had her check-up again with Dr. Lord on February 11, 2023. We were very worried about her case for having 80° curvature. Doc advised to have brace again and if possible she has to undergo therapy.

Scoliosis is a medical condition in which there is an abnormal curvature of the spine.

Thinking of Yen's condition, I searched for Dr. Hermida in socmed kasi nasira ung fone ko kung saan nakastore ung number nya.. Need ulit kasing macheck-up si yen. Buti na lang nakita ko cia, I try to connect with him and napakaresponsive naman nya. He advised to have a thoracolumbar x-ray na before her appointment. Yen had her x-ray in Camillus Mabini on January 30, 2023.

Yen was diagnosed with scoliosis in 2019.😔 We looked for an orthopedic doctor👨‍⚕️immediately. Luckily, an internist doctor from Camillus Batangas recommended Dr. Philip Aristotle Hermida.

He checked Yen's condition and advised for a thoracolumbar x-ray. He explained that the scoliosis can be idiopathic, congenital or neuromuscular. Pwede ciang namana at lumabas lang cia during puberty stage because natrigger ng activity para magcurve ung spine. While asking doc, kung anong bag ang dapat na gamitin, dapat daw ay back pack basta wag din masyadong mabigat. Big NO sa sling bag/one handle bag. OUCH! Un talaga ang nagtrigger para macurved ung spine ni Yen. Haist! Akala ko mas okay un dahil walang susundo sa kanila sa school tas medyo malayo nga nilalakad papasok ng bahay. Akala ko mas okay un kesa sa back pack kaya un ang binili ko nung lumipat kami ng Mabini.

Yen was only 10 years old by then but the curvature was already 30°. Since medyo worst na ung curvature at her age, He suggested Yen to have a brace but also explained that is not a treatment but just to prevent the curvature to worsen.
