August is National Breastfeeding Month!
Mandated under Republic Act No. 10028 or the Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act of 2009, this month-long observance celebrates and promotes breastfeeding as the best and most natural way to nourish babies.
Why breastfeeding matters:
✅ Exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months of life gives babies the perfect nutrition and protection they need.
✅ From 6 months and beyond, continue breastfeeding while introducing safe, nutritious solid food.
✅ Mothers need care too: nutritious food, enough rest, and strong emotional support help them continue breastfeeding successfully.
Breastfeeding is not just a mother’s responsibility — it’s a shared community effort. Let’s support every breastfeeding journey!

Breastfeeding is beneficial for both mom and baby. Babies get the best nourishment through breast milk. Breastfed babies have a lower risk of asthma, obesity, and type 1 diabetes. And for moms, some cancers, type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure are less common among women who breastfeed.
Eat dark green leafy vegetables for increased breast milk supply. Eat fruits rich in vitamin C for better iron-absorption.
