Kapag sinasabi nating gusto nating mag-bago ang ating buhay, hindi naman talaga ‘yung pera ‘yung gusto natin—it’s the freedom.
Freedom to do the things that we want in life. Kalayaang puntahan ang gusto mong lugar. Kalayaang bilhin ang gusto mong gamit. Kalayaang kainin ang gusto mong pagkain.
When we look at more money as the ultimate goal, we will never feel satisfied that we have enough. However, when viewed as a means to an end, we realize that we can afford anything.
Let’s do a quick exercise, shall we?
Kunyari mayroon kang isang bilyon this week, ano ang mga bibilhin mo?
Sa susunod na linggo, mayroon ka ulit isang bilyon, ano ang mga bibilhin mo?
Sa isang linggo, another billion… Ano ang mga bibilhin mo?
The point of this exercise is to help us clear our minds of the material items and instant gratification experiences that clutter our thinking when we view the world with a finite money supply.
Habang tumatagal, mas na-fi-filter na ‘yung mga gusto natin, hanggang sa mas nakakapag-focus na tayo sa mga bagay na gusto at kailangan talaga natin sa buhay. Once we have everything that we think we need, we begin to focus on what matters to us.
If your goal is more money, you will never have enough. You will never truly be satisfied with such a mindset.
Money is a tool, so stop treating it as a goal.
