February is National Children’s Health Month. As a pediatric dentist, it is my goal to provide children with good oral health, restore their teeth and create beautiful smiles.

Some dentists think that restoring primary teeth is not a priority since it will be replaced but they don’t realize the repercussions of this thinking and the damage it can have on the permanent teeth. Since I see patients of all ages, I see the problems created by not having a good set of primary teeth.

It breaks my heart whenever I see all primary teeth pulled. This can cause so much problems in their growth and development. To my students and colleagues, please save what you can save. Learn how to do pulpectomy and trust adhesive dentistry!! Refer if you can’t do it! Treat the child as if he or she is your own.

This is a case of a 2-year-old boy with badly decayed teeth. Restorations were completed with pulpotomy, pulpectomy, stainless steel crowns and strip off crowns.

The anteriors were restored following principles of BRD: Caries detector, air abrasion, gold standard adhesive, resin coating and composite strip off crown.

To ensure the safety of our patients and staff, we are doing our best to adapt to the protocols provided to fight against the Covid 19 virus. On top of our thorough disinfection and sterilization methods, we have equipped our clinic with the system which has been proven to capture 99.99% of all particles as small as .007 micron in size. Charged filter captures and destroys all viruses, bacteria and molds.

We are still currently closed and will only attend to the urgent cases when the ECQ is lifted. In the meantime, please do your best in maintaining good personal oral hygiene. We are looking forward to seeing everyone in the near future.

I love my job! I miss my staff and my workplace
Being a dentist amidst the Covid Virus Pandemic is not easy. I get calls or messages daily from patients saying they are in pain or broke their tooth, etc. Its not easy to to say “ I’m sorry as I cannot see you and the most I can do is to prescribe medications. “

As stated in the Center for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, It is recommended that dental facilities postpone elective procedures, surgeries, and non-urgent dental visits, and prioritize urgent and emergency visits and procedures now and for the coming several weeks.
Patients also need to understand that the aerosol generated from our handpiece and scalers can carry airborne microorganisms and viruses from the mouth into the air. As some patients remain symptom free, you don’t want to be the patient next to the carrier.
Yes we may have PPE and be able to disinfect our clinic but our enemy is still out there. We don’t have a definite cure against it. We are still waiting for more studies and acquire the best equipments to keep our clinic in the most sterile environment for all our protection.
We are doing our best to help attend to your dental needs remotely so please understand us too. Do your part in keeping your teeth healthy and follow the daily regimens that we always remind you to do.
