Grandmaster Monie Velez, a pillar of Balintawak, has inspired countless students throughout his life. Since 2023, however, GM Velez has faced mounting medical bills from a heart attack and sepsis. His condition has worsened recently, making ongoing financial support critical.

GM Velez's dedication to Balintawak has touched many, including his friend, Manong Yuli Romo. Manong Yuli will conduct an online Ilustrisimo seminar to help with GM Velez's recovery.
